Ann Arbor Wedding by Nicole Haley Photography + Petals Planning Co.

The weddings that I fall in love with on a daily basis run the gamut from glamorous city affairs to sweet as can be backyard shindigs and I’m pretty sure most of you can relate. They all have those endearing details, those beautiful moments whether taking place at a chic hotel or overlooking rolling hills and it’s the photography that really brings everything to life. Nicole Haley Photography captured all the lovely country-infused details behind this Ann Arbor gem and those beautiful moments run a plenty. See them all here!

From Courtney of Petals Planning CompanyWhen Audrey and Paul chose Misty Farm as the venue for their wedding ceremony and reception, they did so because of its natural beauty, which they used as inspiration while planning the rest of their wedding day. Audrey and Paul were married on an unseasonably warm fall day in Michigan and, instead of the typical passed appetizers or cheese and cracker spread, Audrey wanted to embrace the season and decided her cocktail hour would consist of donuts, apples and freshly-made apple cider from the nearby Dexter Cider Mill. She was intent on not only supporting local vendors, but also embracing the beautiful time of year in Michigan. Audrey is an event coordinator and graphic designer herself, so when it came time to design her stationery suite, she knew just what she wanted (and how to get it). She wanted the invitations to truly reflect the simple, laid-back atmosphere of the property and the wedding she was planning with Paul. She carried the simple, natural feel over to the self-designed coasters, which doubled as escort cards.

Audrey chose the chartreuse bridesmaids’ dresses and celadon table linens to perfectly complement the vast property, rolling hills, and man-made pond that are all a part of the Misty Farm landscape. She chose a floor length J.Crew wedding gown that flowed beautifully. Holly from Sweet Pea Floral Design designed the gorgeous bouquets and boutonnieres carried and worn by the bridal party. One of Paul’s hobbies is brewing his own beer, so not only did they serve home-brewed beer at their reception, but the boutonnieres were made of hops. The groomsmen also wore ties, designed by Audrey, that were silkscreen prints of the wheat used to make the home brews.

Audrey and Paul were determined to give their guests a unique experience and hired local caterer Pilar’s Tamales. Pilar’s serves Salvadoran and Latin cuisine, so Audrey and Paul’s guests feasted on homemade tamales, beans and rice, plantains, and were served hibiscus iced tea and horchata, a popular Latin rice drink. Cake Nouveau, another local vendor, provided the cutting cake for the bride and groom, in addition to green tea cupcakes with passion fruit icing. Audrey purchased gorgeous white vases from Anthropologie, which she used for some of the floral arrangements for the guest tables. The vases also doubled as gifts for the bridal party and parents at the end of the evening. All in all, Audrey and Paul’s wedding celebration was personal, local, and beautiful. Guests feasted on local foods all evening, danced to the sounds of a rocking DJ and departed safely on a shuttle at the end of the evening. With Nicole Haley Photography on hand to capture every special moment of the day, it couldn’t have been better.
