Litchfield Wedding from IRIS Photography

Have you seen the gorgeous flowers in this wedding yet? What am I saying, I’ve been keeping this stunning soiree all to myself until the perfect moment – now. It’s time that I share the gorgeous florals, along with the rest of the wedding at home, as seen by IRIS Photography, which has more than enough fabulous deets for us ALL to swoon over. And swoon we will!

Jared and I met in August 2006. We were in the same section at Cardozo Law School in New York, New York. Jared is an avid Phillies fan, so although we had all of our classes together, we did not go on our first date until late October 2006, after baseball season was over. On our second date, Jared and I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and planned to go to Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn for pizza. Unfortunately, neither of us knew how to find Grimaldi’s, so we never made it.

Over three and a half years later, on May 15, 2010, Jared told me that we were actually going to go to Grimaldi’s for dinner to celebrate my getting sworn into the New York bar. We opted to take a taxi instead of walking across the bridge and risking getting lost for a second time. When we got to Grimaldi’s, we saw a line down the block. I took my spot on the long line, and Jared told me he was going inside to talk to ask about the wait. A few minutes later he came out and said that he told the host the story about how we tried years ago to make it to Grimaldi’s on our second date, and couldn’t find it. According to Jared, the host liked our story and told us that we could cut the line and sit immediately. I did not know that Jared had called in advance to tell the host that he was going to be proposing after dinner.

When we were done with dinner, we went for a walk along the river. We sat on the grass by the water and Jared proposed. After the proposal he took me to a place for champagne and brownie sundaes (my favorite dessert) and when we got back to our apartment later that night, he and my sister had worked together to have it all decorated with flowers and balloons.

A little over a year later, on May 29, 2011, we got married at my family’s house in Litchfield, Connecticut. It was always my dream to get married outdoors, under a tent at my family’s house. The inspiration for the wedding was a dressed-up garden party, so that we could take advantage of the beautiful surroundings. Since the tent was white and the grounds are very green, we wanted to have simple, pale colors for our wedding colors, like yellows and pinks.

The most special part of the wedding ceremony was that we were married by Jared’s uncle, who is a Rabbi. He was able to give the ceremony a personal touch that we both appreciated so much. A highlight of the reception were the speeches given by our closest friends and family, and the hours of dancing that everyone did (mostly with their shoes off).
