From Melissa of Melissa Schollaert PhotographyGeorgia and Scott were married at a quaint little church in the middle of Highlands, North Carolina. Their emotional ceremony was officiated by a friend close to the couple. The reception at The Farm at Old Edwards Inn followed the ceremony.  The bride, groom and wedding party were transported via an old trolley to the farm. They were photographed in an old orchard while the guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers in the garden. The reception began with the couple’s first dance, as well as dancing with each of their parents. A bountiful meal was prepared by the chef at Old Edwards while guests mingled with each other in the barn. The tables were topped with the bride’s grandmother’s and mother’s lace linens. Some had a mixture of white and cream flowers in small vases, while other tables were topped with tall arrangements. The lovely cake was placed below ribbons hanging from the barn ceiling. The couple displayed old photographs of their parents’ and grandparents’ weddings, as well as their engagement photos, in silver frames on the grand piano. In addition to a wonderful meal, the guests were provided with many treats, including an ice cream sundae bar and a milkshake bar with the couple’s favorite milkshakes and cookie favors, made by the bride and her mother. The milkshakes were a special surprise for the groom, who loves milkshakes. The bride’s grandfather also always made milkshakes for her when she was a child, so the couple created several milkshake flavors in honor of the groom, the bride’s grandfather and the couple. The evening continued with dancing and a grand exit of the bride and groom via a sparkler-lit path to an old, historic car to usher them away to their honeymoon.
