Washingtonville Wedding by Ulysses Photography

Good morning, lovelies and a very happy Wedding Wednesday to you!  We hope you are ready for a day filled with pretty, because we have SEVEN dazzling soirees in our lineup today – and they are all set to seriously amaze AND inspire you.  So, sit back, relax and prepare for a morning, noon and night of gorgeous weddings.  It’s going to be awesome.

Up first in our pretty parade is a warm and cozy Washingtonville affair that is here to remind us just why we L.O.V.E winter weddings.  With a plethora of sweet vintage details and beyond dreamy images by Ulysses Photography, even a surprise blizzard couldn’t dampen this darling duo’s day.  Nope, they took advantage of the snowy weather and filled the ENTIRE venue with magical candlelight and a whole lot of ROMANCE – and we are in love with the whole shebang.  Click here for more.

From the Bride… Brandon and I both love the beautiful fall foliage and crisp weather, so what could be better than getting married outside surrounded by the beauty of the New York Hudson Valley in October? Together Brandon and I stuffed over 300 bags of caramel apples, candy corn and apple cider donuts for our guests to take home, and my brother carved pumpkins for the porch. We designed most of the wedding ourselves, from our table seating chart to our menus and programs.

On the morning of our wedding we realized it was truly going to be a historic day … due to a record-breaking blizzard! Despite the snow and high winds, the day was filled with beauty and warmth. We couldn’t have selected a better (or more accommodating!) venue to be caught in a blizzard — the vintage charm of the house and glowing fireplaces graced with our old family wedding photos made Round Hill the coziest and most intimate place to be snowed in. It was a very unique setting — our wedding still felt like fall on the inside, but peeking through the windows revealed a picturesque winter wonderland. We worried that many of our guests would not be able to make it and for a time wondered if our wedding could still go on. But when I walked down the aisle and saw a room full of guests, I was overwhelmed with love. So many of our friends and family braved the blizzard, some driving many hours in dangerous conditions, to celebrate our marriage. The ceremony was moved inside, but the candlelit room with the snow falling behind us felt absolutely magical. When the ceremony was over, everyone found their way to the dance floor to let loose (just the way we wanted it!) largely assisted by our band, Bud Maltin Metropolitan Music (miraculously all 9 of them!) playing non-stop, amazing live music.

Rachel and Merry of Fleur-Di-Re Custom Floral and Event Design, really helped to bring my vision to life. They used varying antique gold vases and table numbers with garden roses, seeded eucalyptus, ranunculus and hydrangea and wrapped the bouquets and boutonnieres in bark twine. I wanted a vintage romantic feel with a fall twist, and I couldn’t have dreamed of a more fitting floral design. When my Grandma passed away less than three months before the wedding, I changed my entire floral concept to incorporate her favorite flower, the rose. When I saw how beautiful everything turned out, I immediately thought of her, and felt like she was there. My favorite detail of the day was the rose-shaped locket I carried attached to my bouquet with a picture of her and I inside. On the morning of our wedding day, Brandon surprised me by sending our photographers, Jenni and Ulysses of Ulysses Photography, to my hotel suite to photograph me opening my amazing engraved watch (a surprise gift from him!). From that moment forward, this incredibly friendly, passionate and wildly talented husband-and-wife duo really captured the raw emotion of a remarkably unforgettable day in beautiful and unique photographs — the snow was no obstacle for them. Ulysses ran right out there in the middle of a blizzard to get the perfect shots! Having Jenni and Ulysses photograph our wedding was a pleasure — they felt like part of the family. And you would never know all the madness that went on that day by looking at the pictures … you can see they are truly magical!
