Wrap It Up Pretty + Winners!

It’s hard to believe that we are already wrapping up another stellar week of inspiration here on SMP – and even harder to believe that we’ve officially entered the month of March… which means only a few more weeks until the start of Spring!  And even though we are seriously giddy for the next few months of tulips and glorious rainy days, we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to Winter just yet.  Instead, we’ll be spending our weekend gazing lovingly at this brilliant photo shoot by the Oregon dream team of Simple Marie Styling and Amanda K Photography.  Set against a gorgeous snowy backdrop and featuring some of the most stunning gowns we have ever seen, this shoot is – in one word – amazing. So, cozy on up for a Friday night spent in the full gallery and then we’ll see you back here on Monday morning, lovelies! xoxo

From Danielle of Simple Marie StylingAmanda and I have wanted to collaborate on a project like this for a long time. I’m 38 weeks pregnant which may seem like an odd time to start working on a project, but Amanda and I knew that it would be our only opportunity to collaborate for a while. So in two short weeks, we made it happen.

Amanda approached me with a concept for a high fashion shoot with bridal and artistic tones, and with that in mind, I sat down to create the dresses. The process was completely organic, no drawings, no plans — just sew a little, step back and take a look, then sew a little more. The white dress started as a demure and proper silhouette. I added the billowing tulle for some drama. The black dress I wanted to be beautiful, feminine and look high fashion. The feathers cascading down the bodice gave that soft feminine touch, and over 50 yards of tulle gave the skirt drama. For the right person, I think a black wedding dress would be amazing!

The accessories for the shoot were inspired from the dresses. A lace crown, a fluffy feathered bouquet and fresh garden roses with baby’s breath covered the chandelier to compliment the first look in white. A delicate lace mask and a pen feather were the perfect simple touches for the second look. On the day of the shoot, the snowy forecast somehow conspired in our favor and Amanda, as always, captured the moments perfectly. With our beautiful model and custom wardrobe, the light snow and dazzling light helped make this shoot everything we’d hoped for.
