Malibu Wedding by Birds of a Feather Photography

This is one of those affairs that you could get lost in for hours; poring over each and every single beautiful image by Sarah Yates of Birds of a Feather Photography. It’s easy on the eyes and bountiful in the love, just the way we like it. All of you flower connoisseurs will be in hog heaven with the blooms by Brown Paper Design, wedding lovers will delight in the pretty details by Cassandra & Company Weddings and all the shoe mavens are sure to fall in love with the Bride’s ceremony shoes AND with her dancing kicks. It’s all sitting pretty, right here, for you to devour!

Now it’s time to settle in for some magic cinematography courtesy of Son of Sharkpig. He has a mighty fine way of not only capturing the sweetest moments but also matching them with the BEST music. This film is a little slice of heaven if we ever saw one…

And how about another for your viewing pleasure? We couldn’t pick a favorite so we figured why not have a big ol’ viewing party, Son of Sharkpig style.

From the bride… Early on, we decided nothing was more important than having all of our closest friends and family together to be a part of our day. With Tyrone coming from Australia and me from Canada, choosing the location of our wedding was the biggest challenge. We decided on Malibu, California because it meant one flight for all, and the beautiful Stone Manor as the venue for its enchanted garden feel and breathtaking ocean views. Once that was decided, we started coming up with ideas that reflected who we are as a couple and how we wanted to express this on our wedding day. It was important to us that our loved ones, who traveled from near and far, could feel the effort that had been put in to every detail. This was the best way we could thank them for making the long journey.

We chose a vintage tea party style with pastel colors because it reflected how we want our future home to feel. We can’t thank Brown Paper Design enough for their floral genius in bringing this vision to life. Having so many guests from out of town, we wanted them to experience the amazing wines and fresh produce that California has to offer. So we decided to make a trip to the Napa Valley prior to the wedding to choose our favorite wines to be served on the day. We also asked our caterer, The Kitchen for Exploring Food, to design a menu focused on food that was in-season and locally grown. Oh, and of course we chose our ridiculously delicious cake from Susie Cakes — it was the only wedding we’ve been to where there was not a piece left at the end! Rhonda Hemmingway, an incredible designer from Sydney, designed my dress. The combination of lace, cap sleeves and an open back was perfection, and I felt so comfortable all day. I’ll never forget Tyrone’s face when I came down the aisle! Tara Dowburd-Loftman from Makeup Therapy and Ange Grmolyes from Styles with Ange made my leading ladies and me feel like a million bucks. Best of all, the hair and makeup lasted well in to the wee hours of the morning, so I can’t speak highly enough about the two of them.

The day itself was a dream come true. Tyrone and I chose the music from Amèlie, our favorite film, for the procession. We wrote the ceremony ourselves, including our vows, and were lucky enough to have our best friend Steve Yiannikas marry us. After the ceremony we ate, drank and were nothing but merry for the rest of the night. Looking out from the head table and the dance floor and realizing all of these people throughout our lives had come together in one place was indescribable. Thank you to Sarah Yates from Birds of a Feather and Son of Sharkpig Videography for capturing our special day perfectly, we will cherish the memories forever.
