The end of winter is in our sights and I, for one, can’t wait for the start of spring but this lovely photo shoot is sure to make the last few frosty weeks a little more bearable. Lucky for us, we have all weekend to get lost in this winter fairytale inspiration created by Frost Photography with MustardSEEDevents and a whole bunch of other uber-talented New York vendors. From Caroline of Frost Photography… Who hasn’t fantasized about being lost in a fairy tale, disappearing into a different era or even living in a fantasy world with our favorite characters? The idea of time travel is a theme with universal romantic appeal and is an experience that can only be matched by reading a book. We New York vendors were inspired to create a wedding inspiration shoot that gave the sense of being lost in a favorite work of literature. Because of the winter season, we decided to give it a rustic, woodsy twist, traveling only a few hours from the city to the timbered upstate New York. What we created is a whimsical, romantic winter look that is easy and affordable for any bride to achieve on her wedding day.
Like the pages of a book, our shoot did not have a lot of color. Instead, we focused on neutrals like black and white and gray with a touch of silvery blue for the icy winter and blush pink to add romance and the hope of spring. Library card escort cards are the perfect way to invite your guests into your storybook wedding! Display them like we did in old drawers, or even in a chest of apothecary drawers like traditional library cards. We used books as a key part of our centerpiece, which gave it such a classic romantic look and is as affordable as looking through the attic or picking up some $1 books at your local used book store. The table runner was made from the yellowing pages of an old paperback and is an easy DIY project for any bride! We ripped pages out of the book, laid them out over the floor hodge-podge (about half the width of the table) and simply glued the edges into place with craft glue.
Bare branches are a great money-saver and can have the same chic elegance as an expensive, dramatic floral arrangements. MustardSEEDevents incorporated some tiny tea roses into the branch arrangements to mimic budding branches (a more affordable way of achieving the look than buying blossoming branches out of season) and which gives that sense that spring is on its way! To give the shoot a vintage feel, we used a vintage dress and jewelry and headpieces from Preston & Olivia, coupled with cable knit sweaters and wool coats to give it a rustic edge. Our models Ramon and Asiya have been happily married for more than five years, and their love shines through in every picture. This gorgeous pair were happy to be a part of the shoot, and because they’ve never had professional wedding pictures, we were so thrilled to be able to gift them these.
