From the bride… Being from Dallas, my husband and I couldn’t think of a better place to get married for our “destination” wedding than Austin. We were high school sweethearts, but because we attended the University of Texas together, Austin is the place where our relationship really blossomed. We wanted to get married in a location that was laid back, rustic and beautiful. The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center was the perfect fit. This was truly a DIY wedding, and we couldn’t have done any of it without my mom. She graciously opened up her dining room as our “wedding workshop” for six months to let our ideas and projects evolve. The invitations were exactly the feel I was looking for. After having them hand-calligraphed by Danae Blackburn, we hand wrapped each set with a vintage charm.  I couldn’t have been more excited to send them to my guests!

We welcomed everyone to the great state capital with hospitality baskets filled with our homemade “Tex-Mix,” “Love is Sweet” M&M’s, my sister Ashley’s delicious banana bread, “I-do” water bottles, fruit and specially-wrapped breath mints. We also included a wedding weekend itinerary that was printed and assembled by us.

The ceremony was definitely magical, and I wish I could take the amazing chuppah that Melanie from Last Petal created and bring it to my house! After the ceremony, our cocktail hour in the back garden was fully stocked with our signature drinks and passed hors d’oeuvres (the tomato soup shots and mini grilled cheese were my favorite!). The reception was rustic, chic and beautiful. From the escort cards, menus, table numbers, napkin rings, wish tags to the “Mrs.” & “Mr.” signs hanging from our chairs and the s’mores wedding favors, the night was completely DIY. We were sent off with our handmade ribbon wands into a 1963 white Bentley to end an absolutely perfect wedding!
