From the bride… I wanted to incorporate my Greek culture with his Irish culture. We included a bagpiper at the ceremony, which was at a Greek Church. I also wanted the reception to look very “spring-like,” so I incorporated a lot of purple and fuschia with light green to make it feel like spring. The tablecloths were a light sage green and our escort card table was grass-colored.
We had a cigar roller, so the cigars had our names printed on them and were customized to people’s likings (mild, strong, etc). We also had a sausage cart at the end of the night serving sausages, which to us felt very Boston since when you come out for the bars in Boston, there’s always a sausage cart around cooking them up. We also had personalized rose flower petals made up around the base of our big centerpiece in the foyer for the reception. Also, donation cards made to St Jude’s in lieu of favors memorialized the groom’s cousin who passed away from brain cancer and who was supposed to be a bridesmaid.
Instead of a traditional first dance with my dad, we busted into a Greek dance across from each other with people throwing money at us, which was very different from what people were used to.
