Valentine’s Day is a very special day around our neck of the woods. We live for the love that floats in and out of our windows as the whole world celebrates this wonderful day. So of course, we had to share a top-notch wedding with you today. Captured by Janae Shields Photography, this San Francisco soiree is perfect for the day o’ love. Planned by Dream A Little Dream Events, the day is covered in red & pink, vintage & chic, and a couple so in love. Click here for even more!
Matt and I met in San Francisco, courted throughout the city and started our family here, so we wanted to celebrate our marriage in this spectacular metropolis. We have always loved the feel of old SF and appreciated the history that is interwoven into every neighborhood. It seemed only fitting to select one of our most historic venues, which opened in 1931. Bimbo’s 365 Club is the epitome of vintage San Francisco – swanky, fun and sexy – it’s where love has blossomed countless times, including for Matt’s parents and grandparents.
We wanted to return to the glory days of the supper club, with an homage to the retro vibe but with our own modern touches. The venue elegantly incorporates terraced dining platforms, a curved stage, dance floor, and state of the art lighting and sound systems. The interior, recreated in black and red, and accented by wall treatments, instantly transports guests to another era.
The reception space décor tied into the existing Lounge look and feel, we brought in garnet and henna specialty linens for the highboy and cocktail tables, which also featured gold martini glasses with peacock feathers and colorful blooms. The hostess station held a fun, tall floral designed in a gold urn filled with red, blue and hot pink flowers along with an array of peacock feathers. And the entrance area, which displays a large mermaid statue (so 1930s!), included eight large glass cylinders in varying heights topped with colorful flowers and feathery agonis accents. The escort card display was made of three large, flat boxes filled with hundreds of crystals and delicate wires to hold each guest’s name. For a little fun, we added a photo booth with props that was busy all night long.
Our ceremony, held on the dance floor, featured two tall standing candelabras embellished with red roses, feathery agonis and hurricane glassware with candles. To dress up the stage behind us, we placed glass cylinders of varying heights with floating candles along the front of stage, which were then moved to the bars after the ceremony.
The dining tables showcased specialty linens in red, magenta and violet with gold Chiavari chairs and matching gold cushions. The hammered glass gold rim chargers, crystal stemware and gold rim china played off of the metallic touches found all over the venue. The dining tabletops featured three different designs: a gold urn with a romantic bouquet of fuchsia, red and purple flowers, draping feather accents and black agonis; a French corset designed with magenta carnations, copper feathers, black agonis skirting, and cone flower accents; and a floral form with layers of flowers in varied colors topped with feathers.
Around the main room and terrace, we brought in lounges with rouge sofas, leather wing back black chairs, mirrored tables, accent pillows and large crystal beaded hurricanes. The bars held glass cylinders with floating candles and flower bouquets.
My dress, by Monique Lhuillier, was a modern twist on a classic design with an embellished corset and fit and flare skirt with an asymmetrical bustle. I added sparkle and detail with my Badgley Mischka pink shoes, custom made crystal bracelet, vintage chandelier earrings from the 1950s and handmade feather and crystal hair piece. My bouquet consisted of peonies, roses, calla lilies, coxcomb, feathers and crystal accents, with the stems wrapped in white ribbon with a little bling.
Though we focused on the vintage look and feel, we had to have an 80’s band! Guests boogied until 1:00 AM and left saying it was the best wedding they had ever attended. Of course, we felt the same way.
