A pretty outdoor affair awash in succulents + florals crafted by Juniper Floral Designs and a fabulous venue like the Santa Barbara Historical Museum makes for really lovely afternoon perusing. The kind of picture gazing that will have you ohhing, awwing and favoriting away at every single one of Amanda Rae’s images. And when you’re done drooling over the full picture gallery, there’s a lovely little film by Daniel Chae to make this gem last just a wee bit longer. Enjoy!

From the bride… Mike had I dated for four years before he proposed. We met at a local bar in Hermosa Beach over a PBR Tall Boy, which we made a signature drink at our wedding. One of the first trips that we took while we were dating was to Santa Barbara. We feel in love with each other and Santa Barbara on that very trip. We knew once we got engaged that we wanted to get married there. We chose the Santa Barbara Historical Museum because we wanted an outdoor reception and loved the Spanish feel to it. To play on the Spanish theme, we had a Spanish guitarist during our cocktail hour and served Spanish-inspired food and cocktails. I also infused some of my Filipino culture by serving lumpia (Filipino egg rolls) and a Filipino dessert. Both were hits with all the guests!
Our ceremony was a Catholic mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, which was five minutes from the museum. We added a Filipino cord, a veil ceremony and had our pianist play “Falling Slowly” from the film Once during the ceremony and “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles for our recessional. The Santa Barbara Historical Museum is already so beautiful, so we kept the decorations simple with sting lighting, harvest tables and all-white flowers with green succulent accents. My overall vision was rustic chic, which I think went perfectly with the setting that I had. I loved walking into the courtyard and seeing all of my hard work and planning come to life. However, the most memorable part of the day was when we made our entrance to the reception and danced our first dance song to M.Ward’s “Let My Love Open the Door.” It was such a surreal moment and, at one point, it felt like it was just Mike and I in the whole place. To help stay within our budget, we were able to bring in our own alcohol and I did all of the planning myself. Luckily, I also had some talented friends who did my hair, designed all my print items and stood in as my day-of coordinator. That is one of the main reasons why I would love for my wedding to be featured on your blog — so that I can thank all of my wonderful vendors who made the day amazing.
