January is the quintessential Winter Wonderland Wedding month – so when the lovely ladies over at The Gown Shop sent over a winter inspired shoot in my snowy home state (Michigan) – I was excited. And then I saw the line up of the fabulous vendors who worked on the shoot – abby rose photo, Petals Planning Company, Sweet Heather Anne, among other all stars, and I knew I had to share. It’s a glam take on the winter nuptials, and we love it. Don’t forget to click here for more!

From Courtney McDonald of Petals Planning Company … The inspiration behind the photo shoot was the season “winter.” In Michigan, we consider our wedding season to run from April through October due to cold and snowy winters. Too often, winter weddings are overlooked, when in fact, a winter wedding can be just as beautiful and breath taking as any other.
My motivation for doing this shoot was to give brides not only inspiration, but a look and feel they could easily recreate on their own. I settled on a cool color palette of blues, gray, silver, and tan based on the exposed brick and standard decor and feel of the bubble room at Vinology. I used uplighting to provide a cozy and calm ambiance. It’s amazing how far a little extra lighting can go as is shown by the dessert table. It really makes the gorgeous buffet and dessert a focal point of the room. We also incorporated some true “winter” details into the decor including vintage sleds to hold the escort cards and a hot chocolate bar to warm up the guests.
We had a fantastic group of vendors working on this shoot. If you look closely you can see vintage light bulbs in the brides bouquet and table centerpiece compliments of Holly from Sweet Pea Floral Design. Our bride and groom were styled to perfection by Stacy from the Gown Shop Ann Arbor. The bride wore the Ivy & Aster gown “In Bloom,” Sara Gabriel headpiece, Haute Bride jewelry, and Benjamin Adams shoes. The groom wore a suit provided by Renaissance with a shirt and tie from Macy’s. Lindsey Clark provided hair styling services and Amber Kaczmarek provided make up. Maureen from LaBelle Maison provided Italian made Jaluska mugs for the hot chocolate bar and dinnerware for the guest table. The fabulous cake and cake balls were made by Sweet Heather Anne and were inspired by “snow.” Lighting was provided by Light Up My Event and Rockout Entertainment, and Abby Rose photography was on hand to capture every detail.
