La Valencia Hotel Wedding by We Heart Photography
We've started a full-on love affair with the soft, natural and elegant day that this couple put together. Their romantic La Jolla wedding captured by We Heart Photography brings the garden to the seaside. The perfectly pretty, just-picked feel was delivered to each table by Modern Bouquet with a mix of creamy and peachy arrangements and pots of cascading ivy. From the bride... My inspiration for decor was soft earthy tones, natural wood and the gorgeous landscaping and gardens in La Jolla community. I really didn't want a specific 2 color theme. I started with simple ivory linens and wood chivari chairs. Blank canvas for Hannah at Modern Bouquet who nailed the florals. It was like bringing a neighbor's garden to your table and the wooden stumps holding votives and small succulents were so simple and perfect. I also loved the green vines in the chandeliers. I loved the chalkboard signs on the bar that had the bride and groom's pick. We special ordered a local microbrew that Joe loves and it helped our guests know it was there and know to try. I loved designing the menu, table number cards and placecards to tie everything together. The church programs were simple and it gave my family something to do together a couple days before the Wedding. DIY projects are so rewarding and if you get help with loved ones dare I say it can be fun?
Favorite Moment: After the church, we stepped into a bright blue Rolls Royce with glass of champagne and took the long route along the coast to meet bridal party and take pictures. We felt like movie stars and were so giddy with love and excitement. The 5 minute drive will stay with us forever.
Advice: Delegate and ask for help. I wanted to be involved with everything and some times you have to let some of the control go. It also helps make people feel important to complete a wedding task. If your looking for budget-friendly decor advice - candle candles candles! They are romantic, beautiful, fill space well and look great in any space/venue. Try to substitute floral center pieces with mix and matching different lengths of ivory candles. For the fun factor, build a music list over the months you are planning. We gave our DJ a list of favorite songs from every decade and the floor was packed the entire night, started pretty immediately after first dance.
