From Urban Poppy...Urban Poppy started as a tiny seed as I created wedding bouquets and arrangements as gifts for friends who were getting married. My darling husband and I were married last October and had just returned from living and teaching abroad in Asia for a couple of years. I was giving thought to a new business (I owned a french cafe here in Savannah for several years but sold it to work and live abroad) and knew that, since I was a little child, flowers always made me happy. Urban Poppy made its debut and I was my first official bride. Thirty seven weddings later, this January marks Urban Poppy's one year anniversary.
Every arrangement is custom designed for each and every bride. I tell folks that I am not a florist, but a wedding floral designer. Because I only create for weddings and not events or the public, I am able to focus all of my creative energy on each wedding. I'm thrilled to have a background in graphic design as well as interior decorating. This allows me to see the wedding as a whole. I am thrilled to help a bride design her whole look even if she is coming to me primarily for her flowers. Lastly, I spend a lot of time with each bride, whether it's here in our lovely studio or on the phone with one of our many destination brides. It takes time to build a relationship that captures the special floral vision of her wedding day.
