Weddings come in all different shapes and sizes. And here at SMP, we love each and every one of them. They all have something special – and this wedding, designed and planned by VOWS Wedding & Event Planning, is über special. It’s personal, featuring the bride’s signature peace sign, the groom’s eight year old son as best man, and a fantastic minimal, yet amazing, setting for these two lovely lovebirds to tie the knot. The gallery has even more from Rubin Photography, so don’t forget to pop over there once you’re done here!
Sleek, but personal, minimal and natural, but a “wow!” were descriptors I heard from the charming Miss Shelby and her engaging Groom Dave when we first met to discuss their wedding vision. Lime green, candlelight, snow cones (since shaved ice is their favorite thing when visiting Hawaii), peace signs (Shelby’s favorite symbol; she collects any and all) and including Dave’s son Chase in the planning and wedding day were the must-haves. Eight-year-old Chase became our food critic at the tasting and amateur photographer.
More about our Peace Sign theme was best described in the ceremony: “Not only is Peace Shelby’s symbol, but it also describes the state of inner peace since she has come to love Dave completely and he, in turn, loves her with equal strength.”
Novelty-Hill | Januik Winery in Woodinville, WA was a natural venue choice with quality food & wine, and it’s clean and interesting archictecture, including: cement floors, exposed beams, modern art, and a barrel room visible from all parts of the event space. It had an outdoor venue for the ceremony with a distinct red wall back-drop that was ideal for the dramatic, but minimalist couple.
The day didn’t go as planned when the ceremony was moved inside due to none other than Seattle rain, but it was a blessing in disguise as the wedding became as intimate as it was mean to be. A small bridal party, including Dave’s son as best man (who teared up often during the ceremony), and the bride & groom. Eyes filled with candlelight from the glowing line of green and white Glassy Babies and two simple wine barrels became their altar. The reception immediately followed in casual, cocktail style with various passed apps and stations of the wineries signature treats like wood-fired pizzas and sliders. The party continued with a club DJ spinning the couples’ favorite tunes and guests sipping wine in several white leather lounge spaces placed around the room.
