Camp Vega Wedding from Maine Seasons Events + Sharyn Peavey Photography

It completely, utterly, totally pulls at my heart strings when a couple is SO happy, SO in love that you can feel it radiating out of your computer screen. And this couple is one of those perfectly in love couples. You will feel it when you spend some time with Sharyn Peavy Photography‘s account of the day. The gorgeous wedding, planned and designed by Maine Seasons Events, is the most wonderful backdrop for such a happy couple. Click here for more!

When we began planning our wedding, we both knew we wanted a place where people could stay within close proximity to one another. We wanted people to be able to walk from where they were staying, to the ceremony, to the reception, to the after party. What better place to do that than a summer camp?!

The family of one of Ian’s childhood friends owns Camp Vega in Maine and graciously offered the venue for Labor Day Weekend. Plus, Maine is absolutely gorgeous at that time of the year.

During one of our trips up to Maine, we were blown away by the natural beauty and the colors that fill ones senses around dusk. We wanted to make our wedding an elegantly rustic affair, and what better way to do that than by choosing colors that reflect the natural earth tones of Maine. Even the loons with their contrasting black and white coloring inspired the palette. Meagan of Maine Seasons Events helped us immensely with choosing the colors and elements that embodied that feeling.

Although we did not incorporate any specific traditions, we feel that we started one. Many of the wedding ceremonies we had been to felt stuffy and emotionally constricted. Our ceremony was traditional in many respects, but boisterous and relaxed enough so that people could respectfully express emotion. We believe this was achieved by having an outdoor ceremony (thank goodness the weather cooperated), serving a light pre-ceremony signature cocktail (lemonade, soda water, and a splash of blueberry vodka), and having readings that were more secular and metaphorically indicative of our relationship.

We loved the memories of our recessional. We had been so focused on each other during the ceremony, it was wonderful to be declared husband and wife and walk in to the loving energy emitted by our family and friends. You can really see it on our faces in Sharyn Peavey’s pictures.
