Houston Workshop Shoot by Justin & Mary

We’ll continue our day of inspiration from Justin & Mary with a romantic, rustic stop in Houston.  They took inspiration from a favorite country tune – Cowboy Take Me Away by the Dixie Chicks – and infused a laid-back country fête with elegant, vintage details.  I love the thread of blue – from the groom’s denim attire to the blueberry treats – that they wove throughout the decor.  Click here to see all the fun details!

From Justin & MaryFor our Houston stop, we channeled the ethereal vibe evoked by the Dixie Chicks famous song, Cowboy Take Me Away.  We wanted a soft simple vibe with tons of soft blues.  We served three different types of blueberry desserts, had burlap bags of seeds as favors and had a station filled with quilts to keep you warm and hankies for your happy tears.  We borrowed a fiddle from a friend to use for portraits and found a wooded area to take the bridal party that really captured the essence of the song. “I said I wanna touch the earth, I wanna break it in my hands. I wanna grow something wild and unruly. I wanna sleep on the hard ground, in the comfort of your arms on a pillow of blue bonnets and a blanket made of stars.”

We kept the design simple, buy using mismatched china on our head table, vintage keys and quilt patches for decoration on our welcome table, and filling mason jars with blueberries and wild flowers as decorations. Special thanks to Lacy Degarath and Christine Trimoulet for pitching in to make it all happen!
