About the Walk Through a Wedding Workshops…Walk Through a Wedding is a workshop that does exactly what it sounds like! We literally, walk you (the photographer) through each step of the wedding day.  We start with an introduction talking about our “Why” and how that affects the way we approach the entire wedding day, our couples, and ultimately the images we take. Our Why can be boiled down into these five things: AEIOU.   We want the images we create to be: Authentic, Emotional/Enduring, Intimate/Iconic, Organic and Universal.  We want anyone to be able to look at an image, and feel as if they were at the wedding, to feel the love between two people and the friends & family that surround them.

After we wrap up the introduction, the wedding day starts! We walk through the day, teaching how we capture each section of the day, paying special attention to AEIOU.  We start with the getting ready details and bridal portraits, move on to the ceremony and wedding party/couple/family portraits, and finish up with the reception, complete with all of the details you would find at a real wedding!  We cover lighting, gear, angles, timelines, posing and just about anything else that goes into shooting a wedding!  Finally, we have a wrap up section where we talk post processing and take questions!
For our 2011 tour, we went to 10 different cities across the country.  We chose a different theme for each of our workshops and created a design board to go with each one.  After we had the design board we got to work, planning our weddings around that theme, covering everything from the couples attire to the reception details.  In order to keep our workshops as detailed as possible, we knew we couldn’t do it alone.  So we partnered with vendors from each city and enlisted the help of interns from around the country to help our dreams become a reality.  And we were thrilled with how each and everyone of turned out! So thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who helped us out along the way!   We also owe a huge thank you to each and every one of our attendees who showed up eager to learn and made every workshop a success! We can’t wait for 2012!

About the Boston stop from Justin & MaryThe Boston stop of our workshop was the last one on the tour, so we wanted to go out with a bang :) We decided to create a lush, decadent “Boston Tea Party” for the reception of our workshop. To create the luxe feel we wanted, we pulled inspiration from Sofia Coppola’s movie “Marie Antoinette”. We wanted to pay homage to the film, by decorating with tons of over the top details like gold silverware, DIY vintage shoes, and a dessert table filled to bursting with cakes, cookies, and petit fours. In reference to the movie, Lucinda put together an amazing DIY canopy to go over our head table and we used a settee with DIY hatboxes and shoes for our photo booth. We used tea tins for favors and our place cards were tea cups displayed on a vintage writing desk.

The bridal party was styled to look like they were from the 1700s, complete with big hair and white face makeup. We used cameos and black tulle to create unique hair pieces for each of the girls. Megan carried a bouquet fashioned entirely of Baby’s Breath while the maids carried paper cones full of pink roses and carnations. The tables were all decorated with tiny vases and teacups filled with pink flowers and we there was pink champagne with gold glittered rims at the entrance to the party.
