From the Bride…Jason became a “hero” to me even before we officially met. While at a college hangout at the University of Tennessee campus in Knoxville, TN, Jason noticed my unease with unwanted attention of an older patron. Although we had never met before, Jason immediately walked up and hugged me, saying ” I have not seen you in forever!” Situation solved. I loved his modern day chivalry. We began dating that night and now we are married!
We fell in love with Cedarwood on our first visit to the property, there was snow on the ground but we could visualize how spectacular it would look in July! It had the perfect casual elegant setting that we were looking for in Nashville. The inspiration for my wedding style was southern elegance. I found my bridesmaids dresses before I found my dress, so once I found my dress I was able to decide on a color theme for the wedding. I decided on classic light colors like blush pink, gray, and fawn, because I felt like they would compliment each other the best. Also, I knew that our flower arrangements would be stunning and I didn’t want to take away from their beauty.
We were married at First Lutheran Church in downtown Nashville where Jason and I were the 5th generation in his family to be married there dating back to the early 1900’s. I wore my grandmother’s broach on my wedding bouquet, and also I wore my grandmother’s pink wedding dress when I left the reception. It is 55 years old and still fabulous! We decided to keep our honeymoon a secret from everyone, so at our reception we announced that we were going to Hawaii and Disney World to our family and friends.
It is true what they say, it is all a blur at the end of the day! I loved our wedding ceremony, it was flawless and incredibly romantic. The moment the trumpets started and I started walking down the aisle, I just knew it was going to be a perfect day and I was marrying my prince charming! I remember the moment I received my bouquet, it was exactly what I had wanted. It was the perfect touch to my wedding ensemble. Jason and I have a basset hound named Humphrey, and we decided to have him in some of our photos at the beginning of the day! He is our baby, so that was special to us.
Jason and I decided to have our grandmothers, Joan Cullum and Yvonne Barber, make our wedding favors! My grandmother’s specialty is peanut brittle and Jason’s grandmother’s is pickles, so for a month before the wedding they were making these delicious treats. We put them in mason jars, they were just adorable.
