Rancho del Cielo Wedding by Erich Chen Photography

Oh my goodness, I ADORE this Malibu fête by Erich Chen Photography.  Yes.  I.  Do.  The combination of darling DIY details, vintage chic stylings, vibrant hues and a very sweet bride and groom has my heart skipping one wedding loving beat after another.  Plus, any couple who serves ice cream sandwiches on their big day gets a gold star in my book.  Yummy and fabulous… can’t go wrong with that.  Click here for even more.

From the Bride… Our first must-have: an outdoor wedding with a formal feel. We wanted guests to feel part of a celebration, not just attending an event. We wanted them to be participants, not spectators. The vintage feel was inspired by the bride’s love for Anthropologie and the groom’s love for design. Our desire to have a wedding that represents us was seen in the groom’s favorite shoes (Converse) and venturing into Coolhaus for ice cream sandwiches in place of a cake since the bride’s favorite dessert is ice cream.

We wanted to have food our friends and family would be excited about. We felt food trucks would be a nice deviation from the typical chicken and potatoes wedding meal. We were also on a budget and desiring to take on DIY projects such as the handmade table numbers, handmade fabric flowers, menu holders, DIY program fans, ribbon and lace table runners, and handmade name cards. We scoured Craigslist listings to find mason jars, vintage bottles, scrabble letters, etc.  As the wedding got closer, the projects felt overwhelming but in the end all the hard work paid off. We were blessed to count on friends and family to help with different elements of the wedding such as our invitations and printed materials designed by our bridesmaid Sarah Ramos, the menu holders handmade by the bride’s father, and the DIY program fans which turned out to be a whole family project. Certain design elements were influenced by other wedding design ideas, such as different color bridesmaid dresses, incorporating lace and planter boxes, and scrabble letters spotted throughout our wedding.
