Sacramento Wedding from 2 Chic Events & Design + Jodi Yorston

When 2 Chic Events & Design sent this Sacramento wedding they had helped sign, seal & deliver our way, I immediately knew I loved the yellow that took stage right (obviously the gorgeous bride and oh-so-handsome groom took center stage), and the way it was able to brighten up a lovely gray day. The best though? That was definitely when I heard from 2 Chic that the yellow was a perfect option for the sweet couple – because of the fact that they were a total “ray of sunshine.” Love it! Make sure to spend lots of time with Jodi Yorston Photography‘s fabulous images in the full image gallery! It’s totally worth it.

Justin & Amy Cherman 05-14-2011 {Wilson Vineyards} from Lovespun ~ Handmade Films on Vimeo.

Amy and Justin’s is an organic love story. Amy, a native of Sacramento, CA knew from an early age that food was a passion for her. After graduating from high school she attended Cornell’s University’s School of Hotel Administration in Ithaca, NY. Upon graduating Amy moved to New York City where she pursued her passion for cooking at some of the cities finest restaurants. Justin, raised in Chappaqua, NY also had a love of cooking from an early age. This love brought him to The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, and upon graduating also found himself in New York City.

Amy and Justin’s story takes root at Eleven Madison Park Restaurant. Amy was working there as a line cook when Justin came on as the purchasing manager.  Although they saw each other in passing it was not until some time later that a co-worker set them up by torturing Justin for months about someone who liked him. When Justin finally found out it was Amy he asked her out for a casual dinner, and their relationship grew from there.

During a Thanksgiving trip to Scituate, MA, where Amy’s family has spent many summers, Justin decided to ask Amy’s parents permission for her hand in marriage.  Justin had always enjoyed collecting rocks from different places he had visited, but Amy still couldn’t understand why he wanted to go look for rocks on the beach on a cold and rainy Thanksgiving day. She reluctantly joined him only to find that the rock he had in mind was the one of his Great Grandmother’s diamond ring.

Several months later Amy and Justin relocated to Sacramento to settle down from the big city life and be closer to family.  As the wedding planning began, Amy and Justin fell in love with the understated charm and beauty of Wilson Vineyards in Clarksburg, CA.  Just a short drive outside of Sacramento it felt like a world away and a California vineyard was the perfect setting to host friends and family who would travel from all over the country to celebrate with them.  From there the wedding planning continued with Amy and her mom embracing the rustic elegant feel of the vineyard and finding sunny details in the wedding colors of yellow and white.  The planning truly became a family affair with Justin’s mom and aunt contributing countless hours designing custom touches from the wine bottle table numbers to guest’s hotel gift bags.

Amy’s uncle officiated the ceremony, and three of her Cornell friends who were involved with acapella sang along with guitarist music.  Amy and Justin also incorporated a stone ceremony in which each guest came forward and placed a stone with a special wedding wish in a jar for them to keep. As chefs, it was very important to Amy and Justin that the food at their wedding was memorable.  Fresh agnolotti pasta and homemade sausages for hors d’ouvres was followed by a family style dinner and then four different flavors of cake with an organic milk bar.  Guests then danced the night away in the barn at Wilson Vineyards to the sounds of Hip Service.  The weather had been unseasonably cool for May in California, and forecasts of rain all week had held out until the very end of the night as it started to sprinkle when Amy and Justin made their sparkler exit.
