Edmonton Wedding by Jennifer Bergman Weddings

This beautiful, modern fete is total wedding sophistication. I'm in love with the rich and subtle color palette of chocolate browns, copper, ivory and black. One of my favorite details of this wedding is the guest book. This couple opted out of having a traditional guest book and instead had anniversary cards, each labeled with a different year, in which guests filled out and sealed for them to open on a specific year. How cool is that? The couple chose Jennifer Bergman Weddings to plan all pretty details and had Sharon Litchfield Photography capture everything to perfection. Click here for more!

From the Bride...In July 2010, Joe and I moved to Gabon in West Africa. When we began planning our wedding for the following year in the city where we had met and attended University (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) we knew there would be some challenges. I immediately sought Jennifer Bergman Weddings to help us with this international affair and the Skype calls and emails began.

Joe and I had always talked about getting married in a restaurant as we wanted a contemporary venue with its own ambiance. LUX Steakhouse & Bar in downtown Edmonton was perfectly suited to our tastes and it provided an intimate and elegant setting for us to spend time with our friends and family after having been so far away. I really wanted to keep the décor simple and streamlined as LUX was already so beautiful. We complemented the dark wood accents in the space with a clean palette of chocolate, copper, ivory and black. I fell in love with the idea of a tablescape of flowers instead of a traditional centerpiece and we used tons of candlelight to enhance the intimacy of the event.

Highlights and special touches of the night included the entertainment at the reception – it was outstanding! Talented local dueling pianists wowed the crowd and kept them dancing and singing all night. In lieu of a traditional guest book, guests were invited to choose a year and leave us a message in an anniversary card to help us celebrate our wedding for years to come. Our friends and family also loved the Kobe beef sliders, mini hot dogs and sweet potato fries served at midnight to keep them going on the dance floor.
