Oh my goodness. Take a big deep breath, because you are about to gasp. Over and over. I haven’t caught my breath since Braedon Photography sent over the most amazing, breathtaking images from a Santa Barbara wedding. First, lets just say that his photography is seriously ah-maze-ing. Amazing. The way he captured the soft, watery tones of the whole affair – oh my goodness, I can’t get over it. Second, can we talk about this wedding? STUNNING. And I use all caps for a reason. It is stunning. From the beautiful bride to the handsome groom to every single perfect detail. I think this affair might have just jumped to the top of my favorites ever list. Top five at least. We love santa Barbara. As a little girl I grew up going there and it always had a sentimental place in my heart. We also wanted to have a destination wedding without burdening our guests to have to travel far. Most of our guests were from LA and OC so this location was perfect for a mini destination wedding.
I wanted the wedding to truly express both Vince and I. Vince is a minimalist who doesn’t like too much going on. I, on the other hand, wanted the wedding to be a black tie elegant affair. We went with green and white (with a hint of brown) to give the wedding a fresh and clean feel with a touch of romance.
I worked with a close friend and her company Paperista to design our paper suite from scratch. It all started with a picture I took at a hotel in Arizona and from there the paper goods began to take shape. I wanted all the pieces to have some similarities so from the save the dates, to the invites, to the day of stationery there were certain trends we followed. And the calligraphy…. I love, love, loved the calligraphy we had on the invites, escort cards, and the menus. It was just the right touch to add elegance and romance.
I also added a lot of fun details during the reception to make the party fun… We had flip flops for the ladies to give them more comfortable dancing shoes, we added glow bracelets, glow necklaces and glow glasses to get the party started, and we topped off the night with a late night snack of McDonalds for our guests to enjoy on their way home! All these little details represented to fun side of us. My last favorite DIY item were my shoes. I bought Tieks (my favorite flats) and personally crystalized them with “I do”.
The best moment of the day was watching the doors of the church open up. There at the end of the aisle was Vince standing with the biggest smile. At that very second all my nerves were wiped away and all i wanted to do was get to the end of that aisle to be with my soon to be husband. I cant express in words how amazing the moment was except to say it was not only the best moment of the day but the best moment of my life…EVER!
