This sweet, DIY wedding proves that just because you live in a huge city, amidst all the hustle and bustle, doesn’t mean you can find a quiet retreat just a short drive away for your big day. We’re loving the quaint, country feel and of course, that cute little sheep! How could you not? The bride is a designer so it was no surprise that she created many of the elements that gave her wedding such personality like the escort cards and cake topper. From the Bride…After living in NYC for 4 years I finally met the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with. We were engaged after a year and a few months of dating, but it took 2 and a half years of saving for that perfect day. Saving, designing and preparing for the wedding took longer than expected but we couldn’t have done it any other way. Myself being from Texas with the majority of my family still living there, I knew I wanted the day to feel like a piece of home. Luckily, I found the perfect location 20 minutes outside of NYC at the Queens County Farm Museum. They also recommended the perfect caterer that was able to work within our budget. We also had a great photographer that was able to capture all of the great moments of the day. Being a designer and a natural do-it-yourselfer, I was able to keep the wedding cost down. I designed our save the dates, invitations, and escort cards. I even painted our cake topper. After months of collecting antique aqua mason jars my parents found a florist in Queens to make the table arrangements, short notice nonetheless. My now husband created the playlist for the ceremony and we had a friend recommend a DJ that made our reception unforgettable. All of these things ended up being perfect for our day.
