From PALETTERA Custom CorrespondencesAbsolutely stunning and refreshing, the wedding of Dr. Dorothy Li & Matthew Patterson, PhD was a beautiful summer affair that was held on the very campus that they studied at: the University of Toronto. Shot by Claudia Hung and papered by Palettera, the wedding was modern, classic, romantic and stylish. In a modern palette inspired by pink peonies and BCBG’s ink blue color, the wedding was particularly unique because the bridal party consisted of “bridal attendants”. Both Matt & Dorothy’s entourage consisted of 2 men and 2 women, which was an accurate reflection of their open-minded and friendly characters. They are such a lovely and well-educated couple that are loved by all.

Dorothy began the day at her house, where she was accompanied by her mom and sister to get ready for the traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Serving tea to Matt’s cute and wrinkly grandparents was one moment that has a special place in Matt’s heart. They proceeded downtown to Trinity College Chapel, which boasts beautiful architectural and beams of radiant natural light. Claudia then led them through downtown, where they had sessions in the industrial areas near their hotel. A beautiful reception then took place on the Park Hyatt rooftop, which oversees the best parts of Toronto, from the heart of Yorkville. Beautiful glass bowls of peony arrangements brought the ballroom to life.

The stationery details with the additional gold touch were absolutely gorgeous. The invitation featured hand-sewn silkscreened gold and ink blue paper on top of a blue satin belt, which grounded the prestigious and luxury gold foil press typography on the cover. On the inside, a cluster of blind debossed starbursts with Swarovski crystals complimented the deeply pressed text in both English and Chinese. Inserts were tucked into a hand-sewn pocket with deliberate ink blue seams. The invitations were the perfect counterpart to the lush bouquets of peonies and stefanosis flowers! Placecards were classy and uniquely portrait-styled, with the matching silkscreened gold pattern paper on a pale pink tent, topped with a small white square with the guests’ name and a Swarovski crystal. The seating chart was typeset to bring out the respectable nature and style of both the bride and groom’s families —- sleek, classic and timeless. Each table was named after a place that Matt & Dorothy have travelled to together — from Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, to Italy – they have travelled and backpacked to all different parts of the world.

Well-rounded, and highly educated, the bride and groom are both people who think and feel deeply for people. Their party was very cozy, and everyone had a great time gathering on the balcony 17  floors up from street level, overlooking Bloor. Guests had a blast in the photobooth of Claudia Hung’s infamous “Portraits on White”. It was truly an awesome evening. Favors were replaced by a generous donation to Doctors Without Borders Canada.
