There's nothing that quite compares to the feeling of staring up at the snow-covered peaks of the Rocky Mountains. That glorious mountain range still has the power to take my breath away, even after spending most of my life living amongst its loveliness. And when you add that stunning backdrop to a fabulous affair such as this Canmore soiree by Corrina Walker Photography, well, you've got yourself a little slice of wedding heaven. With gorgeous florals by The Nosegay, a bride in cowboy boots and a garden party meets rustic chic vibe, I think I have a new wedding to obsess over. All coordinated by Lynn Fletcher Weddings, the pretty doesn't stop here... Join me in the gallery for even more!

From the Bride… It was a particularly Canadian courtship as Dave and I met at "the Brier," the Canadian men's curling finals in 2009 and we were engaged a year later while in attendance at a curling match at the Vancouver Olympics. We wanted to incorporate some fun elements of our story into our wedding and with the help of a team of wonderful vendors we did just that. Most important of all - we wanted to make our guests felt welcome and everyone to have fun!
We both grew up in Calgary, but we have family from across the country and we really wanted to have an event that highlighted our beautiful Canadian Rocky Mountains. We looked at a number of venues and we both fell in love with Silvertip - a gorgeous rustic location, up on the side of a mountain, with stunning vistas and a sophisticated seasonal menu. In planning our celebration, we wanted something timeless and classic, but fun and comfortable as well. We were inspired by the idea of a summer garden party, with lush blooms, scrumptious food and wonderful music floating on the air.
It was the little details that meant the most to us - the small Olympic mascots that peeked out from behind the pillows on the patio, the cigar bar honoring my Father who passed away four years ago, the portraits of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days and our "Wedding Quilt" guestbook which Dave's Mom will help us quilt together as a keepsake were just a few of the ways we were able to share with our guests - to tell the story of who we are and what is important to us as a couple. The rain poured down on the morning of our wedding and our outdoor ceremony was moved indoors. It turned out to be so intimate and beautiful - once I saw Dave standing at the end of the aisle - everything melted away and it was just him and I. As we finished our ceremony and stepped outside, the skies cleared and the sun peaked out - the mist rising off the mountains made us feel like we were in a fairy tale. What made our wedding so meaningful to us was that we were able to share it with our friends and family and that we were able to enjoy it ourselves. We had so much fun and wouldn’t have changed a thing.
