We love a good barn party over here at SMP, but my adorable meter starts to rise when that barn just happens to be on an apple farm. Hello fab way to incorporate a subtle theme! This wedding by Blue Photo at See Canyon Fruit Ranch is a lovely example of what makes my meter start a risin’. With a casual, vintage chic feel and overflowing flowers from April Flowers – it makes for a gallery of images full of adorable!

From the Bride…Daniel and I are high school sweethearts and dated for 5 and half years when we became engaged. We had dreamed about our wedding for a long time so when the time came to begin planning we were thrilled. We wanted our day to be light, fun and whimsical; we had a lot of friends and family coming from out-of-town so we wanted them all to truly enjoy themselves and celebrate. Our first vendor selection was the venue and from there, everything else fell in to place. We knew we wanted to get married on the Central Coast of California, where we live, and fell in love with See Canyon Fruit Ranch, an apple farm just outside of San Luis Obispo. The vintage chic look I had always envisioned fit perfectly with the ranch and I soon began looking at hundreds of SMP blog entries (not an exaggeration) for ideas and inspiration for the theme, décor and flowers.
I came to my florist, April Peet of April flowers, with so many different ideas; she really helped me to create a beautiful cohesive theme. Originally, my color palette was set to navy and yellow but April helped me to expand the palette to include beautiful corals, peaches and creams. We collected milk glass pieces for the flower arrangements and used an eclectic mix of them throughout the venue. We also used some of April’s mason jars and blue glass to add another whimsical element. DIY touches were throughout the wedding like the apple place cards and chalk board table numbers, my mother also created many of the handmade items at the wedding including Daniel’s gingham tie, the ring bearer pillow, table linens, decorative pillows and bunting.
The Central Coast has great food and wine so we wanted to reflect that in our menu. We chose our caterer, Two Cooks Catering, because they work exclusively with SLO County farmers and utilize locally grown produce and bake their own bread. We also selected local wines to feature the wine region of SLO County, including wineries Barrel 27 and Still Waters Vineyards and local brewery, Firestone.
