From Milk and Honey Photography…Jacqui and AJ were married on the 5th of March 2011. Jacqui got ready at the Crown Plaza Terrigal and they were married on AJ’s family property. The wedding had a boutique-handmade feel with handpicked bouquets and bridesmaids carrying balloons instead of bouquets. The couple had a location shoot around the property with their bridal party, they also played a couple of games of croquet before heading to the reception on the same property. The wedding was a combination of cultures with both Jewish and Chinese traditions present at the ceremony.
From the Bride…How did the newlyweds meet? Is there any special story? We met through our dear friend Nat – one of Jacq’s bridesmaids – and fell for each other in AJ’s parents’ garden. It was very fitting that where we shared our first kiss was the very spot where we became husband and wife.
We wanted to incorporate all the treasured elements of our family life in our ceremony. The wedding included a chuppah – a Jewish wedding canopy with open sides representing the new home we were creating – breaking of a glass (another Jewish tradition), and a Chinese tea ceremony where we received “lucky money” from AJ’s side of the family! We also wanted everyone close to us to be involved in the actual ceremony, so we had eight special people come under the chuppah with us who each read a different blessing. As you can tell, we really love our family (!) so we also had a table of photos of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days. The most special thing of all though, apart from sharing the day with the people we adore, was that we organized and planned the whole wedding together and it was 100% “us”.
