I’ve fallen head over heels for these Chicago nuptials by Victoria Sprung Photography and have been rendered a little bit speechless in the process, one gorgeous image at a time. With a soiree that’s one part traditional and one part urban chic, every single detail is jaw-dropping fabulous. The candlelit reception at Salvage One, that ah.ma.zing bouquet and those mismatched bridesmaid dresses… I love it all. And I won’t forget that stunning, stunning gown, which has been worn by both the bride’s mother and grandmother AND is one of the most beautiful gowns that I have ever seen. Swoon. I’ll be spending my afternoon in the gallery, soaking in all of this pretty. I suggest you join me there for even more!

From the Bride… Our wedding was all about honoring traditions and sharing our love of Chicago, especially the neighborhood of West Town/Ukrainian Village, with our family and friends. It was also very important to incorporate the talents of our loved ones in every way possible. Our ceremony took place at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, where my husband’s mother attended mass as a child. The decoration and imagery in the church celebrated her Polish heritage. My father, a musician, arranged the music for the ceremony, which was a combination of early American spirituals and classical piece by American composers. I wore a dress that was worn by four women in my family, including my mother and grandmother.
Our reception took place at Salvage One, a venue that houses salvaged architectural artifacts and art objects. As an art history teacher, I was taken with the idea of being surrounded by the history and beauty of these objects while celebrating our promised future together. We chose a menu that combined many of our favorite flavors; Southern barbecue, Tex-Mex, and classic American fare. The band, Jimmy V and the Uptown Five, is a group of my husband’s college friends who play rock with a major soul vibe. They were fabulous. It was a spectacular evening… everything we had imagined and more.
