From the Bride…They called it the “Sally” dress. At first it only existed in my dreams, but after countless customizations and fittings the amazing consultants at Vera Wang were able to turn my childhood vision into reality. Sally, the one-of-a-kind champagne pink wedding dress had a sweetheart neckline, vertical seamed bodice, tumble tulle ballgown skirt complete with handpainted watercolour floral pattern and horsehair bow sash at the waist and was accessorized by a thin trim veil hiding a Swarovski crystal-embellished headpiece. Sparkling gold Christian Louboutin heels with trademark red soles completed the look. Needless to say, I felt like a real princess about to marry my prince.
The ceremony and reception were as elegant and flawless as my dress and the entire day was simply magical. My romantic palette consisted of blush pink, silver/grey, cream and white. These colours were ever-present in the wedding party attire, floral designs and decor. The guest tables had centerpieces made of manzanita branches decorated with dendrobium orchids and hanging tea lights, while the head table’s centerpiece was a larger reproduction of my bouquet.
The Canadian Museum of Civilization was the perfect setting as it overlooks the City of Ottawa and the historic Parliament Buildings; the perfect view for our out-of-town guests. Also, the Museum grounds offered a mix of spectacular green landscapes and modern architecture that allowed for stunning pictures. Special touches to the wedding included trilingual wedding invitations (French, English and Chinese), live ceremony music provided by a friend and classmate, place cards handwritten by my mother-in-law, a stylish lounge area adjacent to the dance floor, a Chinese lion dance, and a completely sugar-free candy bar (since I’m a dental student!).
