From the bride… As a bride with a budget, I realized quickly that I live in a very expensive state in which to get married! We live in a fairly small town without lot of wedding resources so I had to get creative and enlist lots of help to make my dream wedding happen. It’s not so much a DIY wedding as it was a “friends and family come together and make it happen” wedding! I wanted to create the feeling of a sunny, outdoor wedding with whimsical, vintage, and modern touches. The antique milk glass vases and cake plates were a perfect accent to the modern yellow and gray colors found throughout the decor. This couple LOVES sweets so we knew we had to offer a candy buffet, which included French macarons. We tried to incorporate pieces of ourselves into our wedding. The groom is an Iraqi war veteran and very proud patriot so of course we had to share our congratulatory note from the president! The bride loves springtime so there were birds featured throughout the decor. We also had custom made cake toppers that included our pets and the groom in his firefighter gear. Bridesmaid dresses were non traditional, floral print. We were married on the patio, overlooking the golf course and beautiful windmills and green hills. The overall mood of the day was relaxed and refreshed. I wanted to create a fun, relaxing environment, perfect for a Sunday afternoon in the California springtime! Because we entrusted our family and friends with so many important details, we were so calm and assured the day of our wedding. We were able to have the wedding we always knew we wanted. And now we’re living happily ever after!
