I have fallen head over heels for this Bald Head Island affair. It started with a deep adoration for the dotted swiss dress (oh that dress), moved on to gushing over the fresh palette of colors and charming Bald Head Island Golf Club backdrop and hit a crescendo with image after gorgeous image captured by Scott Piner Photography. And the pretty doesn’t stop there. It is overflowing right into the gallery where more perfectly Southern details await!

From the Bride…We were both working on BHI in the summer of 2009. I was a waitress/supervisor at the Pelicatessen “The Peli” (which is a restaurant attached to the BHI club) and was living at my parent’s summer house with my best friend. Thad was a sailing instructor and was living with his grandparents, who live full time on the island. We ended up meeting at a mutual friend’s house at the beginning of the summer, but did not start dating until the end of the summer. We knew both knew then that we were right for each other. We continued our dating relationship (long distance- 6 hours apart) for the next year. I was a senior at Clemson University and he was Graduating from East Carolina in December and beginning graduate school immediately in the spring. We never went more than one weekend without seeing each other. Thad always made the extra effort to make it work.
Thad called me on August 6, 2010 while I was on Bald Head Island with my parents. He asked me to catch the 4:30 ferry off the island. He picked me up at the ferry- We went to eat dinner at Pharmacy (a delicious restaurant in downtown Southport, NC). The plan was for us to go in his boat back over to BHI after dinner to a sandbar that had become a favorite spot of ours….but a series of storms blew in and he knew that he was NOT going to be able to follow through with his original plan. Due to the storms….we had to take the BHI ferry back to the island. I was so mad because I thought that this was going to be the night he proposed and nothing had happened!!! We had a very uneventful ferry ride –I was grumpy and he felt like a failure and was trying to come up with plan B. We got in the golf cart and made a turn that is not one we would normally make. The turn took us to the gazebo at West beach. We walked out on the beach- I turned to look at our sandbar and when I turned back around he was down on one knee- PROPOSING!!! It could not have been more perfect. He had managed to carry a bag out there without me noticing which had a cooler (That included delicious champagne) and champagne glasses. It was a night filled with crazy emotions but ultimately both of us were in complete an utter bliss as the rain stopped for the ONE hour we were out on the beach celebrating our engagement!!!
