Random side note: when writing posts, I always have a theme song or songs for the particular wedding I am putting together looping in my head. The songs just pop up in my noggin and usually fit the wedding pretty well (I never said I was normal). For this adorable affair by Emma Love Photography, it was The Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack. Maybe it's because of the way the couple infused happy yellow into the occasion or maybe it's just this couple's signature style is so cool, but it just seemed to work. Soundtrack or no soundtrack, it's adorable and spending some time in the full gallery of images is a must.

From the Bride...After nine years of dating and every summer spent inWaskesiu, Justin and I knew right away where we wanted to bring all of our friends and family together for a day we’d never forget. Waskesiu is such a magical place with so much natural beauty - making it the perfect setting for a wedding. It was easy for us to work off of our surroundings to create the rustic, vintage theme that we wanted. The Community Hall where we held our reception is an old log cabin sitting in front of the lake with an open grass area which was perfect for our ceremony. My favourite details during the ceremony were the lemons that created the aisle we walked down and the little snack stand set up for our guests to enjoy some homemade baking and cold drinks. I also loved the yellow balloons that our ringbearer held while walking down the aisle. Most of our ideas came from online wedding blogs such as Style Me Pretty – such as the mason jars used as vases, the table runners made out of burlap, the giant chalkboard with our seating plan and the napkins cut from different fabrics . A lot of the fabrics, vases, picture frames, and other decorations for the reception came from second hand stores in Saskatoon.
Our guests really loved all of the wedding photos of our parents and grandparents that we displayed over the fireplace in old frames. Our flowers were provided by Blossoms in Saskatoon and the cake was made at Alexander’s Restaurant in Saskatoon. But the real hit among our friends and family were the quirky bird toppers on the cake that were custom made for us by Wonderfulrubbish. The best decision we made was to hire Emma Love as our photographer. She captured every detail of our wedding in such an honest way. After seeing our final photos, I was so happy to see how well Emma was able to translate the extreme love we felt on that day into such beautiful pictures.
