There is just something magical about weddings on Nantucket. That pretty little island where time stands still hosts some of the most classically beautiful weddings, if I do say so myself. This little off season soirée, by none other than Soiree Floral, just made my east coast loving eyes light right up. The understated elegance, the gorgeous white florals (love that each bridesmaid had a different bouquet!) and the seaside chic nods to all things nautical captured by Brea McDonald Photography makes for one lovely post. I highly recommend you take the slow boat on this one and stay awhile in the full gallery of images.

From the Bride…In the summer of 2004, I had moved to Providence, RI after my college graduation for a job at Hasbro toys. My extended family lives on the east side of Providence, but unfortunately, all of my cousins were out of town for the summer, and I needed to meet some new people. About a week after I moved in, my aunt, ever the matchmaker, told me Connor thought I was really cute and wanted to ask me out. However, she had quite the different story for him. She told Connor that if he took me out for the night, he could use my cousin’s X-BOX for the summer. Luckily, we were EASILY manipulated into a meeting and ended up having the ultimate summer romance. Eventually, Fall came and Connor went back to school in D.C. and I moved to New York to work in fashion. After 2 years in a long distance relationship, he moved to NY and we were finally in the same city again.
My husband’s family has been coming to Nantucket every summer for the past 23 years. It is their “soul food”, a place to go and feel relaxed and enjoy each other. They introduced me to the island a few years into our relationship and we have been coming together ever since. When we first got engaged we considered several wedding destinations that held significance to us both, but after a little research, we realized Nantucket in the off season was an ideal setting and one within our reach financially. Within two weeks of our engagement, we had contacted The White Elephant, set a date and committed! It was the perfect location for the feel that we wanted for our wedding day. We had the beauty of the water and lots of light and airiness.
We wanted every element of our ceremony to feel very intimate and personal. Since I am Jewish and Connor is Christian, we wanted to have a non-denominational ceremony that incorporated elements from each tradition. We didn’t want a stranger marrying us, so we asked Connor’s godfather to officiate our wedding. The Hartley’s and the Lisovicz’s have been coming to the island together for over 20 years, so it only felt natural to have his godfather Paul be able to speak from the heart during our ceremony in a place that held significance to all of us. Connor broke the glass (some of my favorite pictures), we had a beautiful chuppah, and Paul read a verse from the Bible. We chose all white with little bits of navy and periwinkle because it felt crisp, modern and classic Nantucket. We wanted to play off the beautiful blue of the ocean, green of the lawn, and white of the terrace, keeping it very simple with lots of texture and fluff.
