From Amy Wellenkamp Photographers…This wedding was so sweet…I just loved how they incorporated their interests in a subtle, classy and stylish way. The groom is a winemaker for Pali a local winery and since Emily and Aaron live on the California central coast, a flourishing wine region, they used wine elements as a theme to tie their vintage wedding together.
Their whole family was involved. First of all the bride’s parents were the first couple to exchange vows at the Dana Powers House over 32 years ago. The bride’s father, Grey Hartley, is also a winemaker for a popular winery and restaurant, The Hitching Post II, here on the central coast. He has been making and selling spheres at a local art boutique made from the rings of wine barrels. He made lots of these spheres to ground the theme with these beautiful and simple pieces. Three were suspended over the ceremony site and many more were suspended in the barn for the reception. They had silver plates added to them with candles.
To add to the subtle wine theme, decanters were used for the parrot tulips on the reception tables, plus clear wine bottles used as vases lined the aisle for their ceremony. To put the perfect finish on the evening Emily and Aaron made their own barrel of wine, a Rose, and bottled it for a parting gift for their guests. They even wax stamped a “W” on the top of each bottle.
Beyond the underlying wine theme Emily and Aaron had many other amazing details for their day. Their colors were chartreuse and grey, and every where I went their colors were. Even in the house where Emily got ready, the flowers and centerpieces on the tables had splashes of chartreuse and grey and silver. The guests weren’t even going to see these touches, but they were there. Love the details. Emily even wrapped her bridesmaids gifts with the themed colors, but with different prints to match their distinct personalities. Throughout the day and evening everything went so perfect, Emily and Aaron were so sweet and their friends and family so excited to witness them and celebrate their commitment to each other.
