Wrap It Up Pretty!

We don’t mean to brag here at SMP, but have you ever seen this many gorgeous weddings packed into a single week before? Not only have we drooled all week long over inspiration galore, we’ve also announced the bestest SMP giveaway ever! Like I said, it’s been a great week. But before we leave you for the weekend, we couldn’t help but share this fun, rooftop party with you because we all know that one of the best parts of getting married is getting together with all your besties for a champagne-filled bachelorette weekend! And what girls night would be complete without glitter, balloons, and bellinis? Created by the geniuses at Proper Measures Event Design and photographed brilliantly by Morgan Trinker, this party is certainly one for the books! Have an amazing weekend, lovelies. See you back here Monday morning. xoxoxo

From Morgan Trinker: Partly out of frustration with only being able to find tacky pre-packaged bachelorette party fare (inflatable genitalia? no thanks!), and partly because we share a love affair with Kate Spade’s colorful, bold, sparkly aesthetic and Kesha’s clubbing-and-glitter-filled songs, my friend Stephanie Drake of Proper Measures Event Design and I decided to create and shoot the kind of party we would want to throw a modern bride-to-be. We were originally inspired by Stephanie’s own bachelorette party, which was held at the rooftop bar of the historic Redmont Hotel in downtown Birmingham. We didn’t know each other at the time it happened, but I fell more and more in love with the idea as Stephanie showed me pictures of herself with her bridesmaids riding in the mirror-walled elevator and dancing with the city skyline in the background.

With our inspiration in mind, Stephanie created an oh-so-modern color story of kelly green and salmon pink against bold black-and-white chevron prints and regal gold accents. She also incorporated traditional party elements like balloons, confetti, glitter, and champagne in a fresh, fun, easy-on-the-cheesy way. We turned to local invitation designer Sonia Davis for our gorgeous paper goods, including invitations, chevron-lined envelopes, and vellum packets of colorful confetti with the evening’s mantra, “Throw some glitter, make it rain,” printed on the outside.

Our bride and her girls feasted on truffles and bubbly and then danced the night away to DJ Mark’s Kesha-inspired music mixes. After kicking off their heels, they retreated downstairs to one of the hotel’s plush suites for one last girls-only sleepover. It was the perfect end to a perfect party.
