Hartford Wedding by Finishing Touch Event Design

This adorable Arkansas couple’s story is certainly a sweet one.  Once high school sweethearts, they may have parted ways but this lovestruck groom never quite got over his fair-haired, first love.  After years apart they reunited and, four months later, were ready to wed!  And what a beautiful wedding it was!  A sweet, whimsical day filled with vintage pieces and gorgeous florals all put together by the talented Finishing Touch Event Design.  See all the love-filled photographs by A Moment Captured Photography in the full gallery!

From Finishing Touch Event Design… Anna and Michael met over 12 years ago as kids in junior high. They dated in high school, and then went their separate ways. Through college and the military, Michael never got over Anna and always held onto the hope that they’d one day reunite. And they did just that! Two years ago they found themselves back in their hometown and became friends again. Four months later they were engaged, and tied the knot just last month! As their pastor said during the ceremony “I’ve never seen a happier groom!” He had waited a long time for that day.

We created a venue for their wedding in a field on the Bride’s papa’s farm. A vintage, whimsy style ran throughout the elements of the wedding from the ribbon streamers on the bouquets to the antique silver centerpiece containers to the ceremony seating. For the ceremony, we used a mixture of chairs, benches, and pews collected from family & friends to create seating for all of their guests, and had a wooden cross built to stand behind the bride & groom as they said their vows. It was a truly beautiful, one of a kind ceremony space that was perfect for this sweet couple!

As guests moved to the reception space, they signed an antique window that now hangs in Anna & Michael’s home. A horse drawn carriage gave rides to the kids, barbeque was cooked on site for the guests’ delicious dinner, and the Kori Montgomery Band entertained everyone for the whole night. The bride’s cake was an adorable 2 layered cake adorned with sugar vines and flowers and topped with wooden love birds. The groom’s cakes were 3 cheesecakes with an assortment of toppings. On each cheesecake, as a surprise from the bride, was a lyric from a Bob Marley song, one of the groom’s favorite singers. They also included a kid’s dessert table with cupcakes, cookies (displayed in vintage sewing machine drawers), and lemonade as a treat for their sweet girls, Annaston & Lydia. The antique furniture lounge was the finishing touch to the evening. Three gorgeous antique sofas surrounded a wooden palette table. Above them hanging from a tree, were iron chandeliers with candles to add a romantic flair.

Guests danced under the lights, cuddled under blankets, and warmed them selves around the heaters into the night. As guests left at the end of the evening, they took with them a small jar of homemade strawberry jam, made especially for the guests by the bride’s Meme. Each jar was tied with ribbon and a tag embellished with their custom calligraphy love bird logo. This was a true farm wedding – we actually had to herd cows off of the field early in the day, because they had gotten through the fences – and it was perfection from beginning to end. I had several guests tell me just a couple of weeks ago, that if it had been a warmer night, they would still be out there!
