Perth Summer Wedding from Flower Talk + Teneil Kable

Give me a wedding all dressed in white, and I will swoon for days. And when said wedding takes place in Australia, forget about it. Weeks of swooning. This wedding, captured by Teneil Kable Photographer is just one of those weddings we can’t stop thinking about. All the romantic white, the TWO pairs of designer shoes, the soft floral design from Flower Talk, and the quirky Chinese dragon dance – from the couple’s son – makes for a wedding that will grace our dreams for months. There is so much more of this Perth beauty in the full image gallery – meet you there!

Opposites DO attract. I am short, David is tall, I was brought up in a semi-traditional Asian culture, David is your fair dinkum true blue Aussie. Being the easy laid back fella that he is, it took David nearly six years before he decided to propose to me and another five years to finally walk down the aisle.

Both of us are very family orientated and wanted our son, Thomas to be involved as well as many family and friend members that we possibly could. For both of our families, this was the first wedding. As a child I had always dreamt of being the elegant, beautiful, perfect bride you see in the magazines and on the television. With the help of the world wide web, I scoured every wedding webpage I could find gathering ideas to make my vision come to life. I knew I wanted a wedding which met traditional with modern, minimalistic but with impact and of course carrying the WOW factor with touch of elegance.

I had decided to use the colours black, white and hints of pale pink as the colour palette for my wedding. My bridesmaids, to the dismay of my mother, wore black one shoulder floor length gowns. And hints of pink were found in their hairpieces and bouquets. For myself was a white dress and blue Manolo Blhanik shoes, like Sex and the City! It took forever for my shoes to come and when they did they were one size to small! But I feared that if I returned them and it didn’t arrive back in time for the wedding I wouldn’t get to wear the blue shoes that I wanted to, so with David’s blessing, I bought a second pair – Louis Vuitton – to wear at the reception and deal with the pain of wearing small blue shoes at the ceremony.

Our son is part of the Chinese Community Centre LionDance troupe, so they had done a special performance involving six lions and our son debuted for the first time as the new baby lion. It was such a proud moment in my mothering life that I shed a few tears.

My greatest find for this wedding was my florist Jappalin Manning from Flower Talk. I had originally gone to Jappalin for my bouquets. But as my plans for the wedding got more finalized and formed, I realized that there were a lot of people contributing their time for this day and I wanted to give them a piece of the day. Therefore we decided to give away our centrepieces. Back to Jappalin I went and boy did she have ideas! I couldn’t wait to walk into my reception room!  We had decided to go fresh flowers and put the arrangements in big tall vases, flower names were thrown at me, pictures were shown. All I knew was I wanted elegance, impact and WOW. That she certainly delivered as you could smell the flowers at the reception entrance before you enter and when we did enter it was WOW.

In the Chinese tradition, you leave a table empty to feed guests who have passed away. I organized for four cocktail tables with two chairs which were lined up at the back. Each table was for each set of our grandparents, with their pictures and some candle votives.
