My little bohemian heart is all a-flutter over this hippie lovefest by Ashleigh Taylor Photography. The rich, lush colors, the vintage, brass vases filled with voluptuous peonies and ranunculus, the adorably happy couple at the center of it all just make this flower child as happy as can be. This is not any ordinary photo shoot either. Weddings can be just as much about our friends and family as they are about the bride and groom and sometimes that means making certain concessions. For this creative couple that meant saying goodbye to the bohemian California celebration that they had been dreaming about for so long. But instead of completely trashing months worth of inspiration they decided to snag their favorite vendors and head out to the Joshua Tree National Park to create the whimsical, free-spirited fete they had been envisioning. With styling from Candice Benjamin and Hope Stanley, florals by Honey and Poppies and paper goods from my favorite boho designer Pitbulls & Posies this is sure one seriously dreamy team. From Ashleigh Taylor Photography…Jackie Nico and Tony Hello will actually be married this fall. These two are from different cities, Chicago and Salt Lake City respectively. They met in Los Angeles and because of their many similarities they instantly hit it off. They are both performers; Jackie is an actress, Tony a musician, and they are both hippies at heart! Jackie has been obsessed with wedding style blogs– especially Style Me Pretty– since even before she got engaged. And when Tony proposed, she already had a specific list of vendors she wanted to work with for her dream California Hippie Wedding Soiree…. that is until Mom and Dad put their foot down and said “since we’re paying for it, you have to get married in Chicago.”
Since Jackie couldn’t get her dream California wedding, she decided to do the next best thing! She contacted me about setting up a mini-wedding/Mr. & Mrs. session! She wanted to set the scene in the desert and have the vibe be very modern-whimsy-bohemian-hippie-chic! Being a long time fan of Honey and Poppies’ floral designs, she hired Megan Gray right away to arrange the gorgeous flowers! Amber Moon of Pitbulls and Posies created the whimsical stationary. Candice Benjamin jumped on board to lend us her styling talents. In addition to creating a colorful sweetheart table for two, we also created a lounge area for the two to relax and enjoy each other in the warm desert sun! Jackie and Tony also crafted ribbon wands and pinwheels to use as props for the photos! The ribbon wands turned out especially fun! Ribbons also played a major role in the decor, they adorned the chairs and tablescape. Another motif we utilized were desert rocks…these ended up being quite helpful to our set up as it was quite windy on the day of shooting!
Jackie was so thrilled with how it all turned out and said it was “exactly the type of wedding I wanted and had been dreaming of.” Even though it was just her and Tony, and they technically aren’t Mr. and Mrs. yet, the whole thing felt like a dream come true! The final product perfectly represents Jackie and Tony’s strong sense of style, and more importantly the special love they share.
