From 2Chic Events & Design: Linda and Brian were married in the back yard of one of the most charming homes in all of Sacramento. Nestled between 2 towering oaks, their cottage style home was the perfect spot for an intimate, warm and over-the-top personalized wedding. I felt like I had struck gold when I walked in, and the feeling continued as I discovered the old stable, the beautiful landscape in the back of the property and most of all when I sat down with Linda and Brian, whom I instantly fell in love with. We started out with a beautiful, but blank canvas. And, as learned more and more about this couple, I quickly realized that there were so many personal elements that we could grasp onto and incorporate into the wedding; First, we tapped in to Brian’s love of cooking which we utilized in the creation of fig jam preserves, made from a tree on the property, as favors. And then there was Linda’s hand fired glass artwork which inspired her to head to the kiln to create glass flowers to use in her bouquet, beads for the boutonnieres and corsages and plates to place the fig jam favors on. Additionally, we incorporated small mementos passed down from Linda’s mom, and fun accents that reflected their patriotic nature. To create light and a warm ambiance for dinner, I didn’t want to use the traditional market lighting strung across poles, but wanted to use the natural lines of the tree to create a lighted canopy underneath it where guests could dine. So, thanks to Linda and Brian’s willingness to trust me and a wonderful rental company who climbed the tree for us, we were able to wind the lights down several of the larger branches to obtain the perfect look that I had in mind. We then finished them off with an amber glass hanging candle and the end of each branch, which was the perfect finishing touch. After dinner, we unveiled the stable area, which served as a lounge with photos of Linda and Brian lining the walls. Guests were treated to authentic Italian desserts for noshing, live music by our 2 man band and the warm glow of a vintage chandelier over head. The transition from day to night at this wedding was so stunning, and to see it all aglow for the first time, once night fell, was one of my favorite moments. Linda and Brian loved the lighting so much they decided to keep it, and it has become a permanent fixture in their tree.
