Where do I even start with this Los Angeles beauty by Kristeen LaBrot Events? Maybe the chic, mid-century modern venue tucked away in Culver City. Not only can it boast stunning architecture and perfectly romantic ambience but it is also one of the most environmentally friendly remodels in Southern California. Then there is the beyond gorgeous bride and her remarkably good taste. But I think my favorite part might be all the care and thought that this couple put into each and every detail. They were engaged right near the venue which made the spot that much more special, their wedding palette consisted of a combination of their two favorite colors and there were unique, personal touches incorporated throughout the decor. From Kristeen LaBrot Events…Joe and Myra were married on May 29th at the Marrakesh House in Culver City, CA. The Marrakesh House is a mid-century modern home with Moroccan touches such as the open air courtyard. The venue prides itself on being a green facility so couples that get married there must include sustainable items in their planning. Joe and Myra live in the area and wanted a venue that was close to home and reflected who they are. They were engaged at the Baldwin Hills Overlook, a popular hiking spot. Marrakesh House is on the hike up to the Overlook.
The couple’s color palette was significant to them in several ways. Myra chose yellow because it screams spring time and she always envisioned her bridesmaids making their entrance to India Arie’s “Yellow”. Teal was chosen as a mixture of their favorite colors, green and blue. The Bride wore a Nicole Miller gown with the most amazing chunky necklace. The groom and groomsmen wore grey tuxes with Puma sneakers. The bridesmaids’ chic short yellow dresses were by Alfred Sung. The florals were a mix of bright and cheery with earthy succulents. The bride’s bouquet was white with yellow accents and included a mix of peonies, white ranunculus, succulents, billy balls and aster montecasino. Tied to the bouquet handle was her grandmother’s wedding ring and the dog tags of Mookie, the couple’s dog that had recently passed away. The centerpieces were natural wooden boxes mimicking the flowers from the bride’s bouquet.
One of my favorite touches to the wedding was the cut out of Mookie that stood with the girls during the ceremony. After the ceremony, she sat next to the couple at their sweetheart table. The dinner was catered by Casablanca, a local Mexican restaurant. We had one of their tortilla makers make fresh tortillas on site for quesadillas. They were a huge hit with everyone!
