From alex michéle photography…Lauren & Dave tied the knot on Friday April 22, 2011 at ‘The Riverhouse” in historical St. Augustine, Florida. I couldn’t say enough beautiful things about this couple and the wedding they showcased. From peonies of all shades of pink, to the most delicate and intricate cake I have ever seen, the waterfront ceremony site overlooking one of the oldest cities in the world, the peaks of boats and the lighthouse, the sounds of the string quartet, all the way to the linens with each individual guests name embroidered on it, Lauren’s idea’s did not skip a beat with the decor of this wedding. They even had kid sized ice cream cones during the reception! My favorite parts were the mix of tradition and modern with a southern chic edge. Her color scheme was mint greens, soft creams, pale pinks, deep pinks, and touches of gold. The best word to descried such an event is sophistication!
From the Bride…After meeting in college and enduring graduate and medical school, David and I were looking for a way to express where we came from and where we were heading in one fantastic celebration with family and friends. St. Augustine, Florida was the perfect location, happily located in between our two hometowns of Orlando and Jacksonville, and as the nation’s oldest city, it is effortlessly romantic. We loved visiting the local restaurants, shops, and beaches and knew our guests would, too.
The River House combined the laid-back feel of St. Augustine–the large back porch, view of the lighthouse, moored sailboats, and Bridge of Lions in the background–with modern luxury. Our venue expressed our passion for being on the water and Florida living. A stringed quartet from my church in Jacksonville played beautifully throughout the ceremony and cocktail hour. I envisioned our wedding decor to be a union between old & new. My dress, for example, had that classic Spanish Flamenco feel yet was very fashion-forward. The napkins embroidered with each guests’ first and last names as favors added sophistication, but more importantly we were happy to feel that we took the time to say “thank you” to everyone as individuals with favors instead of everyone getting the same thing.
