From the Bride…It was a lovely sunny day in San Francisco. My guests all made it to the wedding from all over the world. It was so nice to see so many people who love us so much to travel thousands of miles to be part of our wedding day. We are truly blessed with such lovely family and friends. Once I walked down the aisle, the beautiful smiles and sparkle in the kids’ eyes made my day. We had a wonderful musician and vocalist that took my breath away with their music. And the serenity of the church was so peaceful, that I wanted the ceremony to last longer. Through the whole day I could not stop looking at my bouquet, as it was so beautiful and a nice surprise. A friend had suggested remembering to stop for a moment during the reception and just look at the room and everyone in it, and take it all in, because the day goes so fast. She wanted me to remember the moment and she was so right, as I’m glad I remembered to do that a couple of times.
When Tom and I started dating we used to go for long walks together. On one of these long walks though North Beach we passed by St. Peter and Paul Church and we decided to go inside and take a look. The church is very pretty on the outside, but we had no idea how beautiful the inside was. As we were looking around, Tom said that every time his Dad went to church he would light a candle. At that time we had no idea that three years later we would actually get married. Three years later we decided to get married. I knew I wanted to get married in a church and with Tom being Catholic we decided to look at Catholic churches in San Francisco, as they are so beautiful. I remembered this was the church that we lit a candle in while thinking of his Dad, three years ago, and I took that as a sign. This would be our church and our date to get married, so I insisted that we go back inside and book the only date and hour available and move forward from there. This gave me the idea of having a picture of Tom’s Mom and Dad’s wedding day by the guest book at our reception to honor his Dad and their marriage and make it feel like he is present with us, especially Tom on that day. His Dad was at all the other siblings’ weddings, except Tom, so this was my way of helping Tom have his Dad with him on his special day.
