From Scout & Charm… Amber was the most amazing bride to work with. She was totally open to everything I suggested and really put all of her trust in me. Together we came up with some really cute and very personal details to add to her wedding. Everywhere you looked there was detail…from the monogramed flagged picks on the oyster bar, to the greetings on the paper straw flags, to the personal button badges each guest received during canape hour.
When guests arrived they were greeted with the most amazing, hidden venue complete with a little chapel, old community hall and beautiful landscaped surroundings, right near the popular gorgeous beachside suburb of Byron Bay. The venue was kept a secret for guests as they all met in a common location and had buses pick them up and escort them out to the property. The guests mingled around tables dressed with old vintage doily toppers and crystal cut vases of mixed flowers. They were served mineral water with paper straws which had personal sayings like “Hooray!” and “Enjoy” printed on them. Guests were then ushered into the chapel for the brides arrival.
After the “I Do’s” canape hour commenced amongst the beautiful gardens. Guests could play lawn games, cricket with an old vintage bat, ball and pads, drink punch from the drink dispenser and mingle amongst the mixed vintage furniture and hay bails adorned with vintage floral fabric covers all while live music was being played. Each guest also got their own button badge which had a personal message from the bride and groom. The best feature of the canape area was the custom made oyster bar. Made out of old country fence palings it was by far the cutest yet practical feature.
Once the sun began setting guests were then asked to walk towards the marquee for dinner. Leading guests to the marquee was an aisle of shephards hooks with mason jars filled with flowers hanging from them. Guests found their “key to their seat” by looking at the old vintage gate which was used to as a seating chart and had shipping tags with a vintage skeleton key attached. The table numbers were another example of gorgeous personal detail seen throughout the day. Each table had a picture of Amber and Giles holding the table number and doing different poses. The tables were adorned with vintage doily table runners, a collection of mixed bottles and vases, conversation starters to help the guests converse amongst each other and place settings made of scrabble tiles!
After dinner was complete, guests were then ushered into the old community hall for the dancing! When guests walked into the old double wooden doors they were met with a whimsical, dreamy and romantic setting. All of the exposed beams inside the hall were heavily lit with fairy lighting. There was also vintage floral buntings strung up and a gorgeous dessert bar in the corner. It was here the bride and groom cut their cake and had their first dance. All of the dessert bar labels, table menus, wedding programs, rose petal cones, scrabble place settings, seating chart and all the other details were all made by hand by me. The bride wanted her family to be really involved in the wedding so her mother-in-law and grandmother made all of the desserts featured on the dessert bar themselves. It was such a beautiful family touch and so cute!
