Urban Rustic-Chic Photo Shoot by At First Blush & Co. Events

Perhaps it’s because I’m a new, very hungry vegan and all this cheese looks delicious. Or perhaps it’s because the styling by At First Blush & Co. Events is ah-maz-ing. But whatever the reason, all I know is that I want to jump into my computer screen and LIVE in this photo shoot! I can see myself now, sitting at that fabulous reclaimed table, drinking the velvety red wine, and eating hunks upon hunks of cheese til my little heart’s content. But really…seriously…how divine is this? It’s French bistro chic at its best and there’s so many more delectable photos to devour in the gallery!

From Naomi with At First Blush & Co. Events : A chic bistro setting with rustic garden-like elements was the inspiration envisioned for this photo shoot. I pictured a beautiful rustic table filled with earthy culinary delights like cheeses from different countries, rustic artisan breads, fruits, olives, and of course wine. Not only would this delicious fare be a key part of the tablescape, it would also serve as a culinary delight to be shared and enjoyed by all seated. Our canvas was a large rustic table that begged to be worked with. White everyday dishes were used at each place setting to add a touch of “bistro” to the tablescape. The rustic flatware against the white dinnerware made a perfect and unexpected union. Each dinner plate was wrapped with a black ribbon to complement the striking black eyes of the anemones used for the table centerpiece. A soup bowl containing a slice of French bread, an anjou pear, and cheese, wrapped in cheesecloth, was tied with a black ribbon and placed on the dinner plate. Desert utensils were kept within reach in mini terracotta pots. Fresh herbs, mushrooms, vegetables, nuts, and golden honeycomb added color and texture to the table scape. For the seating, we opted to use brushed metal and silver stools of three different designs to add a modern bistro feel to the table. The berry topped four-layer cake was left unfrosted to complement the subtle rustic elements incorporated in the overall design.

Simple yet stylish, was the key factor in pulling together the rustic yet bistro chic theme with flowers and herbs. White ranunculus, used in abundance, was placed next to a pot of beautiful spring anemones. Varying sizes of rosemary topiaries complemented the culinary fare and  added height to the continuous and flowing centerpiece. Oversized terracotta pots of majestic hybrid delphiniums were placed at floor level to frame the area. The bridal bouquet was designed with fragrant white lilacs, nerine lilies intermingled with scabiosa pods, and fun viburnum clusters. The stems were tied with jute twine, to complement the groom’s elegant scabiosa pod boutonniere.

For a modern and minimalist approach to this bistro chic stationery Alchemy Fine Events & Invitations designed an invitation suite with a hand dip-dyed edge and matching cheesecloth fabric band. Thick textured envelopes were lined with inky black satin textured liners for an opulent surprise when the invitations were opened. Individual die cut seating cards were placed on mini-rosemary bushes for a fragrant way to help guests find their tables and the conspicuously placed place cards were tucked inside of mini-cloches at each guest’s place setting for a fun and whimsical treat.
