Pennsylvania Barn Wedding from Shane Carpenter for Readyluck

One of the best parts of this job is getting to spend a few hours everyday, one on one, with beautiful, one of a kind weddings. We get to see all the hard work that went into making each big day THE big day, get to see the profound love shared between each couple, and we get to hear a little about each wedding, usually from the wonderful couple. This Pennsylvania wedding Shane Carpenter for Readyluck sent our way has an absolutely amazing planning story involved. The couple renovated a farm for their wedding day! We chose to get married where we began our relationship and were engaged, Christian’s family’s farm in Stewartstown, PA, only a few miles from the town where Michelle spent her childhood. We spent the 10 months of our engagement renovating the century-old barn on the property as well as the surrounding grounds. With the help of some contractors, we reinforced the structure, cleaned out all of the cobwebs, and fixed the human-sized holes in the floor and installed chandeliers throughout.

We were married by Christian’s godfather, who also married Christian’s parents 32 years earlier. Our ceremony was a melding of the traditional Episcopal marriage ceremony and Jewish traditions. We stood under a Chuppah, which we built together with the help of my parents, signed a homemade ketubah and Christian successfully broke the glass at the end of the ceremony to bless our marriage.

Then we moved to the barn for the party – eating and dancing ’till the moon rose.  The result was more than what we had dreamed, a rustic combination of elegance and history.
