Everything about this modern Sonoma wedding by Flory Photo screams fun. The bright blue and yellow palette, ridiculously cute ring bearing pup and giant slice of cake wedding cake could give even the grumpiest guest a case of perma-grin. I love that each and every detail that was incorporated as special meaning to the bride and groom. It just makes an already spectacular wedding that much more special. Click here to see even more!

From the Bride... Our main inspiration was to incorporate our Asian and American backgrounds into the summer outdoors of the wine country. But we wanted something off the beaten path, quirky but still stylish, and to make it our own with DIY designs that were whimsical, elegant and personal. Most of all, we wanted to provide a casual, fun wedding with great food and wine for all of our family and friends.
Some standout moments were seeing each other for the first time prior to the ceremony, a surprise picture in memory of my dad from Scott, which was displayed at the wedding, our officiant, who is also one of our closest friends, accidentally said to the groom “take your husband," our first dance, our furry puppy as the “ring bearer," and seeing so many family members, especially my mom, and friends enjoying dancing and having a wonderful time. It was truly the happiest day of our lives.
Scott and I did lots of DIY – programs designed by the maid of honor, hand-written names on the river rocks as our escort cards, personalized photos with chemical symbols (we are both scientists) served as place card and table menus, home-blended seasoning as our favors (love for cooking), custom wedding website (All by Scott!), and one of our bridesmaid's made the wedding signs and the cartoon map for the invitation. A large format wine bottle gifted by our friends at Holdredge Wines served as our guest book.
My advice to other brides would be to enjoy the process of planning your wedding. Take your time and find vendors that work well with your personality and budget. Have fun with your ideas and go with it, like our giant slice of cake as our wedding cake. Ask for referrals. At the very least, get a professional day of wedding coordinator. They will take a huge amount of stress off of you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from family and friends, they will be happy to be part of the beautiful memories. Everything won’t go exactly as you envisioned, but it will still be a perfect wedding day. Follow Joel’s advice and see each other before the ceremony, it is a very special encounter and we love every moment of it. (The pictures tell it all! Thank you, Joel!) Lastly, just enjoy the party!
