When I was a kid, back before DVR and Tivo, I loved staying up late to watch movies on TV. My sister and I would sit on the floor, two feet away from the television, eating popcorn and feeling pretty great about life. Our favorite was The Wizard of Oz. So you can imagine my delight when I first saw this photo shoot captured by Melissa Schollaert and designed by Toast Events. From the red-hot tin man hearts, to the yellow brick road, to the ruby red slippers, I’m totally over the rainbow for this one and there’s no place like the gallery to get your fill of all the lovely details!

From Melissa Schollaert, Photographer: Ever wonder what Dorothy’s wedding would look like, or who she marries? Well, Lindsay Pitt of Toast Events dreamed up this concept & design for our styled shoot and we think Dorothy’s Groom is dreamy and her downhome wedding is simply charming. Somewhere over the rainbow, Dorothy met her handsome groom-to-be, a rough and rugged man with his very own farm in Kansas. She decided that there was no place like home to celebrate their wedding – a simple wedding at home on the farm. Her guests included Glinda the good witch, the Scarecrow, The Tin Man, Mayor Munchkin, the Cowardly Lion, Toto (of course) & even the Wicked Witch! But first, Dorothy & her groom were married under an old oak tree on the farm with a backdrop of long burlap panels & “follow the yellow brick road” ribbon strung from the tree. The ceremony was filled with red glitter hearts, a burlap/glitter heart banner & most importantly, love. An intimate reception – a “dinner in Oz” featured custom placesettings & decor, customized for each guest attending. Toto’s included a bone, Glinda’s, a magic glitter feather wand & many more. A yellow-brick road stretched down the middle of the table and was topped with potted flowers & plants from the garden. An over the rainbow themed menu featured an emerald greens salad with poppyseed dressing, yellow-brick-road corn on the cob with Kansas City barbeque chicken and a magnificent dessert display. The tantalizing dessert bar featured treats for everyone. Rainbow macaroons, poppy field cupcakes, over the rainbow cake pops, tin man’s red hot hearts, Dorothy’s cupcakes (with her ruby slippers), lollipop guild lollipops & emerald city taffy were all arranged beautifully on the dessert table for the guests to enjoy. Dorothy and her groom ended their evening with a walk through the farm at sunset – a very romantic and intimate wedding for a sweet couple. The End.
