This Seattle wedding by la Happy + Yvonne Wong Photography certainly makes me happy. Black, white and coral are quickly becoming a new favorite color combination of mine and to see it used so sweetly with metallic touches and vintage details makes my little heart go all aflutter! I’m loving the boutonniere cones made out of paper for the groom and groomsmen. It is such a whimsical twist on a traditional wedding element. Click here to see even more!

From the Bride (la Happy)… We were married at the newly-restored Arctic Club Hotel under the gorgeous, stained-glass ceiling of the legendary Dome Room. As a professional graphic designer and lover of all things pink and vintage, I was intent on finding the perfect backdrop for my wedding day vision. The moment Chris and I walked into the historic Arctic Club building, built as a social club at the turn of the century for men who had hit it rich in the Klondike Gold Rush, and took in the signature walruses, speakeasy music, historical photos and atmosphere that evoked Seattle’s Gold Rush heyday, we knew we had struck gold!
Our wedding day began under sunny skies with a photo shoot at a Seattle gem, Top Pot Doughnuts, our favorite Saturday morning date spot. Photographer Yvonne Wong perfectly captured our personalities and those of our wedding party. Then we headed back to the Arctic Club Hotel where both our ceremony and reception was held.
A string quartet and vintage-farm-table-turned-alter set with pink peonies and ivory candles set an elegant mood for the highly personal ceremony. After the “I do’s,” the 150 guests were ushered to the lobby for hors d’oeuvres and drinks while the Dome Room was transformed into an enchanting formal dining room, replete with place cards hand-lettered by me, silver striped paper straws for sipping iced tea and mercury glass vases filled with peonies and anemones. Guests enjoyed a sit-down dinner of crab cakes and beef tenderloin served by a the incredible waitstaff, followed by dancing. The grand finale was a dessert buffet of doughnuts (with little stripped take-home bag for those who wished to take some for the road) from a tiny jewel of a bakery.
Nearly all the details of our wedding were designed and created by me, from the twin-silhouette logo of Chris and me that graced all our papery to the individually-set letterpress invitations, and tiered programs tied with vintage gold, pink, black and cream striped ribbons and groomsmen’s boutonnières fashioned out of vintage church-hymnal pages.
As we ran through a gauntlet of sparklers into the Seattle night, Chris and I agreed we had just experienced a perfect day that reflected our personalities, appreciation of family and friends and love for each other. We wouldn’t have changed a single thing!
