The pretty patrol was on full force for this Maryland wedding. With the help of Pineapple Productions, this bride and groom put together quite the garden wedding. Patricia Lyons shared some great images of the day… fresh florals, charming paper products (from the adorable Just Paper and Tea), and refreshingly yummy Mint Julep’s made for a day this darling couple will never forget. How much do you LOVE the Carolina Herrera dress from Carine’s Bridal Atelier?
From Allison with Pineapple Productions … Jessie and Louis met while working in London, and they have spent a lot of time traveling together through England and beyond. Jessie wanted a wedding look that mixed natural garden elements with formal styling. I started visualizing lovely English country homes with old walled gardens, boxwood hedges, brick paths, climbing roses and terraced lawns. We started talking about these sorts of details and suddenly we realized we had landed on the idea of a Secret Garden inspired wedding.
The ceremony was held at All Saints Episcopal Church, an intimate stone church where Jessie’s parents had also been married. We introduced natural garden elements at the church by adorning candlestands with touches of cream, white, and green flowers and boxwood accents. Garlands of greenery were placed on wrought iron stair rails, and altar arrangements rested on stone columns.
The reception took place at the nearby Chevy Chase Club. Guests sipped Pimm’s cups and Mint Juleps, while deer were seen grazing on the horizon as the sun set, during the outdoor cocktail hour. Calligrapher Arney Walker used natural magnolia leaves, picked and collected by Jessie’s mother, as the escort cards.
The ballroom was styled in such a way that guests would feel as though they were dining in a garden under the stars. The tables were covered in stone grey linens, and the centerpieces incorporated four different garden looks. Some tables had ball and cone topiaries covered in boxwood, others had miniature greenhouses. Other designs featured grey wrought iron stands covered with flowers at the base and the top, and the final design – my personal favorite – used wire obelisks with sweet peas climbing through them. For a starry night look, we projected swirling celestial patterns on the ceiling.
After guests had danced the night away, they were invited outside the club to say their goodbyes to Jessie and Louis. When they made their way through the crowd toward a vintage getaway car, guests tossed cones of petals as a surprise. Jessie, in turn, surprised everyone else by handing her peony bouquet to an adorable, thrilled young cousin, ending the special night with a perfect family memory.
